Son with possible lupus | Arthritis Information

I posted a while ago that my son was waking up with dark black bruising covering his legs , he has had quite a few tests and seen a specialist who is testing him for lupus and he is also being tested for anti cardiolipids, ANA and RF. We should have the results back in 2 to 3 weeks. The bruising comes and goes quite stangely. He is 16 and very sporty, he doesnt have any other symptoms apart from knee pain every now and again. I will let you know what the outcome of the tests are. Has anyone else ever had anything like this with Lupus?

Hi Pin,

I bruise  very easy with my lupus.  I can wake up and have bruises anywhere on my body.  However, they don't come and go, they're like any other bruise and it takes time to go away.

I remember when my brother was a teen though, and he had bruises that were like circles on his legs.  They tested him for lots of things and it came down to a protein deficiency.  After that, he ate more protein and it didn't happen again.

Good luck.

Lisa - I bruise very easily and have lupus.  I wish you the best of luck and big hugs for you and its good you might be catching this very early for your son.  This hereditary link has to play into our disease process, we have too many examples on this board.  Cathy

Lisa...I am hoping and praying it is not so, and it is something very easy to solve...like a protiene deficiency!!!

So Sorry, shel

Hugs,

Pip
