Evening, all! I hope you're all having a wonderful and (as comfortable as possible) day!
Innerglow had posted with an update on her Remicade infusions and I was wondering what an infusion was actually like. She thought it'd be a good idea to start a new thread (and I totally agree!
Sooo..... if you're receiving infusions or have received infusions in the past, can you please let me know what it's like? I'd just like to know how it feels, the process, what you feel like during and after, etc.
Thanks you guys!
I get my infusions in my drs office, in the infusion room. The room is pretty with 4 recliners, and 4 set ups for IV etc. Theres a TV with cable, and a big bookshelf with tons of books and magazines. Theres a huge goodie basket too with cookies, crackers, even snack size candy bars.
I come in, get weighed and the nurse asks how I've felt. she asks if there's been any infections or illness. I sit down and she takes my vitals and mixes up the meds. She gets the IV set, hooks up the remicade. My BP and temp gets taken about every 20 minutes. When Its done she unhooks me and I go into the exam room to chat with the dr or NP.
I usually read, watch a little tv and chat with the other patients. If I'm tired I nap. If its chilly there are warm fleece throws for every one..
I LOVE my infusions.
