Is anyone here on Disaboom?  I stumbled across it by accident and it's a really interesting site for people with all sorts of disabilities and medical conditions.  For those concerned about some things that have been happening here, it also appears to be a well-moderated site.

I've never even heard of it? Is it disaboom.com? Yes.  It's got articles, forums, blogs, chats, profiles, reviews, classified ads, videos, OMG I haven't even found half the stuff it has yet!Thats a really neat site. It seems like they have a lot for people who are thrust suddenly into disability - I saw a thing for amputees even! That's a new type of forum to me! How cool! It's a bit overwhelming at first though, there's a lot to take in. Thanks Suzanne...that looks like a really good site and I like it's 'attitude' about living forward. There isn't actually tons of stuff out there like this.

Disability in AU is certainly still thought of as 'intellectual' disability and it may stretch to people with spinal injuries who end up in wheelchairs but it is a very narrow perspective. People with debilitating chronic illness just don't fit into their categories.

I have bookmarked it and will certainly have some fun exploring.

Thanks for sharing. Checking it out now ..... I like finding ways to help us out!  I really need it!

I've bookmarked it and plan to check it out.  Looks like a wonderful site.  Thanks.

It's official...I'm addicted.  And I've posted my first blog...

Great blog, Suzanne. Very well written...thoughtfully and heartfelt. I love reading and hearing other people's stories...it makes one feel so much less alone. It reminds us to count our own blessings and to reach out to others for support and to give support.

Thank you for sharing this. Oh my gosh Suzanne, it made me cry.  I'm 10 years older than you, but have most of the same problems.  I have the disc degeneration and "arthritis changes" in my cervical and lumbar spine.  I was initially diagnosed with Fibromyalgia several years ago, followed by RA, then OA, and I'm currently seeing my RD to figure out what else is going on.  I've been in so much pain that each work day is getting more and more difficult.  I work in retail as a store manager, on my feet for 9 to 10 hours a day, and am in tears by the time I get home.  I have had the handicapped parking placard for several years, and am very greatful for it.  However, I don't have a scooter yet, but if I ever wanted to do something like you did at those lovely gardens, I'm sure I'll need one.  Anyway, your blog was lovely.  I just singed up on the site this afternoon, and am still trying to figure it all out.  LOL! Thanks for sharing your blog with us.Cordy & Cris, thanks so much for taking a look.  Cris, I have no idea how you stand that long...I really can't even imagine it.  I hope things get better for all of us soon.Suzanne, usually I lean against something, or when there's a break between customers I grab a quick sit-down on one of our benches.  I slip my shoes off for a bit as well at every opportunity.  I'm almost to the point where working is getting almost impossible.  I've been looking for a job that may be easier on my body, but a desk job wouldn't do either, as you know.  Sitting all day is not an option as I wouldn't be able to stand by the end of the day.  I don't know.  I'm just trying to get through one day at a time the best I can.  I too hope things get better for all of us soon.
