< =text/>_popupControl(); I know someone posted before that they were taking B-12, but I don't remember why, or what it was for......

Anyone??? I thought B-12 had some involvment with AI diseases? Am I close???

The reason I ask, is they just gave Justin some B-12 injections, and they didn't really give us any info. My mind shot to the boards, cause I SWEAR someone on here was on them too. I'm gonna hit up google, but I'd love your input too! Thanks!

People with digestive disorders often have a hard time absorbing vitamin B12.  It's notoriously hard to absorb orally; the best way to increase B12 levels is through injection.

From Wikipedia:

The human physiology of vitamin B12 is complex, and therefore is prone to mishaps leading to vitamin B12 deficiency. The vitamin enters the digestive tract bound to proteins, known as salivary R-binders. Stomach proteolysis of these proteins requires an acid pH, and also requires proper pancreatic release of proteolytic enzymes. The vitamin B12 then attaches to gastric intrinsic factor, which is generated by the gastric parietal cells. The conjugated vitamin B12-intrinsic factor complex can then be absorbed by the terminal ileum of the small bowel. Absorption of vitamin B12 therefore requires an intact and functioning stomach, exocrine pancreas, intrinsic factor, and small bowel. Problems with any one of these organs makes a vitamin B12 deficiency possible.

My searches on google were pretty good. I found that it's used for LOTS of things. - Stress, fatigue, anemia, FOR PEOPLE WHO JUST HAD MAJOR STOMACH SURGERY!!

ANYWAY: I have a B-12 deficiency and I take B-12 injections. The neruologist that I went to see due to some numbness and tingling in my legs, feet and hands discovered it. At first I took an injection every day for a week, then once a week for a month and now I take it once a month.

I was use to having the injections at home because of the Humira so my husband said he'd just give them to me instead of having to go to the doctor so often to get them. They are real easy and cheap! They've made a difference in the problems I was having although I don't think my problems were anything like your husbands are.

My Aunt also has the B-12 deficiency as well as Thyroid problems. She suffered without a dx for a long time until they finaly figured out she had both. Her doctor told her the B-12 deficiency was by far the most serious.

I hope the injections help your BF. Sure can't hurt. Good Luck.
