burning pain | Arthritis Information

 

I have a burning pain that starts in my back and goes around all most  to the belly button, about 6 inches wide.  No rash, everything I wear seem to cause it to burn worst.  Been there since Thursday.  any idea.

Rusty - sometimes pain is referred, or isn't coming from the area that hurts.  It could be a stomach ulcer, even if it isn't near your stomach.  Or you changed detergents or your city's water system went bad.  I would try googling referred pain and the pain area and see what comes up.  Good luck, let us know what you find out.  Take care ~~ CathyYou might be getting shingles. If you are you should take antiviral meds asap. Sometimes the rash doesn't show right away.Hi Rusty, it does sound like shingles, but I sure hope not as that is so terribly painful. Thank you so much, I will call doc tomorrow.....I didn't know you could have shingles without a rash,  I had shingles years ago and had a bad rash but it didnt hurt that bad... this is very painful.  I should know by now that anything is possible with me....again thank you.

I'll have to go along with the shingles theory. Shingles symptoms will show
up days before the actual onset of blisters. You can also have internal pain
in that area. It is very important to get to a doctor ASAP to get on
medication such as Valtrex. Good luck at the doctor and keep us posted.
Lori I had shingles. The pain is exactly as you described. The rash didn't show up for a couple of days.Well it would be nice if at least once something would go right ....LOL..The doctors office said they would work me in,  after 45 mins. they asked if I wanted to see the PA.  He was very nice.  He thinks its shingles but said it was rare to get them twice (I had them 17 years ago)  He said it can take up to a week to get a rash.  Went to drug store (Walgreens) to get antiviral med. and they told me it would take 3 hours to get it filled so went home and went back 3 1/2 hours later to be told that they would have to order it,  they don't carry it.  Oh well thats life at least for me...  Last time I had shingle it didn't hurt like this I wonder if it was because I was on high doses of Predisone?  Thanks for your help  Rusty
