Question for those affected by weather | Arthritis Information

I was just wondering if you're one of those people who's RA can flare
because of the weather, does this also happen when your RA is well
controlled or just when it's sort of out of control?

I'm asking because I'm always trying to figure out if weather affects me. A
few weeks ago I was either herxing or flaring (I think herxing) and it seemed
the weather was affecting me big time but this week I feel amazing and the
changes in weather are not affecting me at all.

The pressure is what affects me. Not only does it affect my RA, it affects my sense of balance - isn't that a nice one? And yet the doctors say I don't have an inner ear issue. HAH!

Rain doesn't always mean a pressure change, so sometimes I'm safe. And I don't have to be flaring for it to affect me. But when I'm not flaring, it isn't a problem. It's more annoying than anything, and I just feel stiff and worn out. When I'm flaring and the pressure changes, that's when I get the fast bouts of swelling and the pain, etc etc.

Also, the speed of the pressure change is a big deal. When we get fast, dramatic sweeping storms, my whole body goes nuts. I end up with some of the worst RA pains, worst dizziness, and worst migranes when that happens.

as katie said its the change in barametric pressure not the weather itself.  its worse when you are already flaring but a huge weather change can triggerr a flare.

certain surgery sites always tend to react.  it takes about 2 years post op for them not to

Glad you are doing amazing this week.

RA for me is not under-control... so no help here.gimpy, i have made several trips to the east coast in the past year. i seem to
not do as well physically in the cold, wet weather. my joints throb in the
cold. the dry cold does not seem to be as bad. i love the hot weather and
feel my best during warm weather. we have 6 inches of snow on the ground
this morning. i hate snow.Mostly pressure, but cold damp weather makes everything hurt.Drrrr....I love Vancouver but it is a rain forrest, so cold and damp are the
norm 7 months out of 12 (at least!). So far my reaction to the weather seems
quite random though. Thanks for the replies!

Joonie, I'm sorry you're still having such a rough time. I've noticed you
haven't been postibg as much. I hope you fell better soon!Yes to all of the above....Dammit! Yep! Gimpy, all of what Katie says is true.  Yesterday our high was 70, and today we are getting ready for a snow storm.  I hate this sweeping change.  If it were gradual, I would have slept last night.  i can always tell two days before it rains, my hands get really stiff and my knees/ elbows act up...my mom love it because she knows when to put on the lawn chemicals during the summer and she knows to blow the leavs before it rains in the fall! Yep, I also know when the weather is going to change a day or two before it actually changes. Today was 70 degrees tomorrow we are getting snow and I have been feeling it all day even before I knew about the change in the weather. Rain whether hot or cold affects me and makes me ache big time! I used to love thunderstorms now I hate them!
