Well i have been on the diclofenac for a week today and it is definately a story of good versus evil! The arthritis pain has subsided probably to a 70% improvement... I can walk to the loo and back and have even walked down the stairs (once) for the first time in 6 months!! my hands aren't so bad so I can type a bit easier and my fingers don't look like sausages now Korky. are you taking a gastric pump inhibitor to help your stomach?
Korky. are you taking a gastric pump inhibitor to help your stomach?
Yep I am taking lansoperazole it is a proton pump inhibitor, but it dosen't seem to be helping much, I thought I could put up with it as its better than the joint pain, but now I am having second thoughts! Thanks for your repliesHeHe, I should have seen that you were on that by looking at your list of
meds. I hope you are feeling better soon and can get everything balanced
out. You know, there are also some other meds out there like Sulcralfate.
Have you tried that to help coat your stomach prior to meals and at bedtime.
Ask your doctor about it. It seems to help patients that are on stomach
upsetting meds.well I got to the point last night with the stomach pain that I just couldn't carry on with the diclofenac, so this morning I phoned the G.P again and have been told to stop taking it, which I knew would happen, I hae been told I can't have any other NSAID's until the ulcer has healed (might be a week!) but to stay on Lansoprazole, then after a week I can restart on Celecoxib. In the mean time he has put me back on dihydocodeine (sp?) for the pain, I only stopped taking the diclofenac yesterday and already my hands are painful and fingers swelling, I woke up so stiff this morning and can hardly walk again! it never is easy

Korky, so very sorry.  Like Lynda said, it is that way with this disease.  Weighing and measuring every little thing we do.  I am so very sorry!

It's awful when a med helps so well and then it causes so many other problems you have to stop.

Mona, I understand what you are saying.  I know that if I was not allergic to NSAIDS that I would have a world of trouble with the whole stomach thing.  It is probably why my colitis or whatever plagues my tummy is not as bad as it could be.  So, I get tylenol, so why bother....'cause it is like drinking water.
