Ewwww...this is so creepy:

Long Island doctor may dodge lawsuits for recycling syringes

People caught Hepatitis C and possibly HIV. Why would a doctor recycle syringes. I think they are quite cheap to purchase!
Arrogance and greed, pure and simple.

How horrible!!!!!!!  Hopefully no other people come up positive w/ those diseases.  These patients are the ones to be punished because they weren't told in the amount of time the "law" allows.  I wonder if in a case like that you could sue the state.  Theres gotta be a way around not being able to sue one of the two.  THough Im against people sueing people, there are definitly times whe it is a valid reason.  Will anything even happen to that dr?

Gimpy, I saw that article.  Nasty.I am horrified!!! [QUOTE=JasmineRain] Arrogance and greed, pure and simple.  Now I make sure I see them open the package in front of me before they lay a finger on me.

If someone is moving the needle around when they are changing tubes using a regular needle, they do not know what they are doing! You should request another phleb rather than a butterfly. Some of the needles in a butterfly can be bigger than the needles on a regular vaccutainer or syringe. As for the comfort of a stick, a regular needle would be smaller and probably hurt less. Also, a regular needle is 10-20 cents and a butterfly needle is over a dollar. Those costs go eventually get passed on to us in higher insurance premiums.

That is totally gross, especially being that so many of us are taking meds to supress the immune system.

I have to have a butterfly...I am the worlds worst stick.  I come out all bruised from my infusion.  I look like I was beat in the process.

I agree... they don't know what they're doing at Quest Diagnostics, at least in my area.  And after they've caused me pain with the blood draw, it's too late to ask for another tech.  Besides, usually if you ask for another one they all get pissy and the next one is even worse.  Not to mention the fact that you typically wait in the lobby for 45 minutes or so before you're called.  The best solution for me is to request a butterfly. This guy thought more about his wallet than he did the safety and health of
his patients. I would think he deserves to lose his medical licence.
