colonoscopy | Arthritis Information

I was so sick this morning.  No details but my rd said he thinks I may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  It might be from the mtx.  Guessing game.  We are going to take my mtx in two doses.

RD wants me to go to a GI doctor for a colonoscopy.  Right now, I am like HELL NO.  But I might as well get as much info as possible.  If anyone wants to talk about it UGH I would like to find out more.  Gross subject - This never ends.  I woke up feeling the best I had in days

Now, the day before is the worst.  You have to fast completely, and take meds that make you poop yourself totally empty.  The meds they gave me weren't as bad as some I've heard about, so if you decide to do it, PM me, and I'll find the name of it so you can ask them to prescribe it instead of something else.  It was just too too sweet for me.  But knowing how the pred makes you, that might not be so bad.  Sort of like drinking gatorade but slightly thicker.  And look at the bright side--it's a quick way to lose several pounds...

You're supposed to have a colonoscopy when you're 50 anyway.  And if they don't find anything, you don't have to do it again for 10 years.

Roxy,

I have had two colonoscopies.  not as bad as you think.  just ask for lots of drugs

good luck,

Linda

Both my parents went through it recently and said the same exact thing...the stuff you drink before and the prep is the worst.

Do what needs to be done Roxy; you're a strong woman. You can handle it.

Hang in there. It's one thing after another; huh?

I just love how you guys can make me laugh no matter what I confront.

It IS one thing after another Lovie and I AM A BIG BABY.  OK OK  That's right.  I want to be on survivor.

Meme- Is that how many times I will have to raise the lid after drinking that stuff UGH

Here goes my 2 cents.

Cent 1 - Never had one.

Cent 2 - I would think once I woke up after it was all done I would feel like I had been "invaded"!! LOL I feel like that everytime I go to the gyno, I hate going there. Weird person poking around "private" parts.

I believe if it needed to be done I would get it done. I do go to the gyno every now and then, and probably in December, too.

jooniper38588.7872106481That is a good question Joonie.  What do you feel like afterward????????????Relieved.  Hungry.  Valium drunk.  Done.

Oh no!! I "fed" the question monster a question...lol.

No worries roxy!! It is just fear of the unknown!

I'm still laughing at the Roto-Rooter comment

Sorry Neasy.  I can't read passed the "shove it" part of your post

Neasy38588.8209953704Neasy honey,  Get off the darvocett.  I meant the words "shove it" in your post roxy  one of my friends had it done and she said she didn't feel a thing. She had good drugs and a good doctor. She said the worst part was the day before.  My regular doctor wants me to have one because of low iron thinking I'm bleeding inside, but my RD says my tests are fine. So I'm going w/the RD for now cuz I'm nervous like you about having it done.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

No wonder they won't give me anything stronger than the Darvocet...lol   Well heck, I think I'll join you and go take one myself.  Hugs to you sweetie

I knew there would come a question I couldn't resist!  I've been lurking and listening for months.  I'm a GI nurse who spends my days doing scopes on colons and stomachs.  I've had colonoscopies my self, the first with a precancerous polyp at 39.  Then my brother was checked with 2 at 41 y/o!  Do it!  The laxative is miserable, tho some folks have no problem.  Buy nice toilet paper.  Drink chicken broth.  The procedure is fine because you are out using typically Versed(valium with an amnesic effect) and sometimes a narcotic like Fentanyl.  If you are require alot of meds to get comfortable they may recommend an anesthiologist put you all the way under with Propofol. You are well covered with a gown and a sheet and lay on your left side.  Not alot of fun but better than Chemo.

ROXY........WE MUST BE HAVING THE SAME BAD DREAM.  SAW MY GASTRO DR TUESDAY AND I'M SCHEDULED FOR COLONOSCOPY AND  ENDOSCOPY (SP) IN 3 WEEKS.  HAVING THE BLOODY STOOLS AND B A D TUMMY PAIN....POSSIBLE ULCER.   HOPE NOTHING WORSE.  I'M 50 AND SINCE MY DAD DIED OF COLON CANCER AT 56 HE SAID I SHOULD HAVE STARTED SCREENING AT 45!!

ON A GOOD NOTE THO, I'VE FELT BETTER AND ABLE TO WORK FOR A FULL 8-10 HR DAY W/O TOO MUCH PAIN.  SO BEHIND AT WORK AFTER BEING ON SHORT TERM DISABILITY.

TAKING ONE DAY AT A TIME AND ALOT OF PRAYER!!

Sorry Karen you have had so much bad news.  I am glad you had a better day.   Hang in there, and take the advice you always give me - screw being behind - (pun on words

I also am thankful we have potty graphics

Peace & Love...Neasy

Yet, another potty graphic!
