My MRI came back and i have problems with my cervical spine (neck)...havenet talked to doctor yet but i have the reading...best i can make it out - bone spurs.....disc buldge.....(multilevel neural foraminal narrowing due to uncovertebal hypertrophy and facet arthropahy. Slight mass effect on the ventral spinal cord due to disc/osteophyte complex and focal disc protrusion with circumferential bulge)...whew.....

I am wondering if any of you thought about ankylosing spondylitis. Lab includes high sed and crp....also....problems with eyes and mouth sores, etc. Also problems with the spine fusing or something. I havent had the sores but one of my eyes gets red  but with this mri i am wondering....wonder what the rest of my spine looks like...

I will ask about this with my new rhummy...all you PMR folks - google this and make sure your rhummy did not miss something..

Hope you don't have AS Smartie, sounds a bit like osteo, with the spurs and narowing of the spaces. But with the disc protrusion, I am not surprised you have been in pain. Good that you had the MRI, it will all come clear once it has been properly read and reported. Let us know.

Are you thinking you may have AS Smartie? This looks to be a lot worse disease than  PMR.  I googled the site for AS and thankfully not many symptoms applied to me. I met a friend today who was diagnosed with spondylitis but I did not get a chance to ask him any details or if it was ankylosing or somthing different.  They are experimenting with a drug used for a different disease and he is doing extremely well.  He was on canes before and now he is talking about going skiing this winter.

I am off for my bone density test on Wed. and frankly very apprehensive as osteo is in my family, both my mother and sister.  The worst part is having to wait until Dec. 5 for the results, the next GP appt.  I will decide then on my plan of action.

Hope you do not have a long wait before you see your rhummy and hope he has good news for you.

I am just a worryier and I want to know myself everything it could possibly be. I have only found a few doctors I have every fully trusted. I think you really have to be your own advocate. So many times I felt like i wanted to say something or had a feeling about something or wanted to consider something else and did not bring it up and was sorry later.

I see my new rhummy on wednesday. I want to be well informed when i go in there. And i want to concentrate on the cause of the inflammation instead of treating the symption (the pain). And I want to be checked out better regarding the rest of my physical self. His nurse was real nice to me on the phone so i have high hopes he wont be intimidating.
