cracking in joints? | Arthritis Information

Hi,

I have OA and fibro.. but feel so down today. The weather in Maine has changed, from hot and humid to much cooler and I am in so much pain. My knee and thumb joints are cracking and crunching when I move them. What's up with that? Honestly sometimes I feel like I am 90 years old and then I worry about what I will even be like in 5 or 10 years. I am almost 45 now. I just get so discouraged and have lately been actually feeling much better. I think thanks to the Cymbalta I have been taking for my fibro. But today....... I am so discouraged..have no energy, didn't sleep much last night and have oh so much pain, which the pain med. is not touching. Oh well, thanks for letting me complain. Tomorrow's another day. Maybe I will just crawl in bed and stay there today.

Hi Mindy....Sounds like you need a big hug! I know those days more than i care too.Sure hope the resting has helped you. we are having a hurricaine here in Fla today...and i can tell you, the change in weather effects me in a painful way too.i am not familiar with cymbalta. What kind of med is that? What is it suppose to do? I have fibro also. between all the diseases i have, i am tired all the time. sleep is hard to have...so i nap in day when i can. it keeps my body going. Keep posting and reading here. it helps to know you are not alone.

Thanks for the reply. Cymbalta is anew antidepressant. the way I understand it, is that is also has something for the pain or works on the pain. My doctor said diabetic patients use it for their pain. I have been on it approx. 1 1/2 months...up to 60 mg now and it has helped with the pain..some. Yesterday was just a horrible day for me.Just when I think... ok I am getting better... then fibro/OA rears its ugly head. I certainly understand the fatigue...it is like I am a rag doll and honestly could just lay down on the floor. I go through long spells of insomnia, not matter what medication I take. I almost always take a nap. I left work early yesterday and went home and took a two hour nap and had a pretty good nights sleep. Thanks again for the reply..it helps to talk to someone who understands. Stay safe in the hurricane. Take care.

I have cracking in my back and ankles but it has never been bad.  My ankle will lock up once in a while, and that hurts real bad!  I think I have damage in my ankle from a snowboarding accident.  I hope you will be feeling better soon!

Mindy its no wonder you are hurting, you've have a huge weather change and OA always reacts to big and sometimes not so big weather changes. Nothing really seems to be able to stop that from happening. I can always tell better than the weatherman or girl.

Barb If you are serious about curing this disease and want to change you lifestyle and diet to feel good again let me know and I will be glad to tell you what i know about a cure. That is a cure, not a treatment, not a pain pill, a cure. So many think a doctor and a prescription is all that is needed, but it is not. A doctor will not cure you, a doctor will give you pills to cover the pain as the disease continues to ravage the body until all the joints are gone. Pain is your friend it tells you there is a problem and it needs to be addressed, when you take drugs the urgency of the pain is eliminated and the body gets more and more out of balance. What you will need to do is put down the colas, put down the potato chips, eliminate the ice cream and more. But you know what, you will be well. I am 60 and have none of that, and feel great. I can tell you how. ronbn5638613.3791550926Ok, now I'm gonna get rude!   I've studied chronic pain.  It's not your friend.  Acute pain is as you've described, a tool that says something is wrong and needs fixed.  In chronic pain, the pain pathways in the body have become damaged in that they continue to say that pain is there when there the original cause of the pain is either treated and under control or gone.
I think that you are lower than low by preying on people in pain and telling them it is their fault.  You tell me how an infant who has RA which can cause secondary OA is at fault for that.  You're nothing but a troll.
