Hi IM 50 new to this Tess is my name.Where do i start i have Rheumatoid arthritis for 16 years and have been on embrel for over 2 years, firstly found it helpfull, but this last year i was beginning to walk so bad with a limp, hardly went out very embarassed and saw a orthapedic surgeon july and just had the operation anew operation Total Ankle Replacement,so far so good i had to stop the Embrel 3 weeks before and all other drugs i take voltarol, also to be safe,it was a long operation almost 7 hours but i am here to tell thetale, arthritis is a terrible disease and gets you down i know especially when you were so active,i am at home now with full plaster cast and can weightbear little with this and a special shoe,i have a walker but i will stay at home for 6 weeks due to stairs. The surgeon says it was a success but its the aftercare that takes time,iv had the staples out and stitches and replastered until 12th december. This should give me a better life no pain and walk a lot better without a limp thats what im hoping for,i only take 2 painkillers when i go to bed now,i think i owe myself a pat on the back as i am asurvivor and very much the person that never lets it get me down,i do but in my private time.If anyone wants to talk to me about Ankle replacement i am willing to help,as i say its early days yet but the operation was fine.Tess.
