Arthrotec | Arthritis Information

Couldn't find a previous thread with this, so thought I'd throw it out there.  The Rheumy just prescribed Arthrotec (diclofenac sodium/misoprostol), as my daily 2x1500mg Sulfasalazine and 2x200mg of Plaquenil were just not handling the Michigan Fall/Winter, and Naproxsin is tearing my stomach to shreds.

Anyone have any success/horror stories regarding this?  I don't know anything about Arthrotec, but I wanted to say I like your avatar. It reminds me of Star Wars Lego. Thanks.  It's the critical scene from Episode 5 in Smiley form.  It looks better if you view it directly (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m247/DeathSurge/duel.gif) as the board scrunches it.
Hi there, I used to be on Arthrotec, it was the first med that i was ever prescribed for my RA. It worked wonderfully well for about a year and I had no side effects with it. I hope you get some relief from taking it. Let us know how it goesHi D! Don't have any info for you about the drug, but I wanted to welcome you to the boards. Hope you're having a comfortable day!

Well I take diclofenac (100 mg 2x a day), without the added misoprostol.  It is a NSAID - it's the 4th one I have tried, and it seems to be the best one so far.  I am pleased with the results and I'm not experiencing any stomach problems.

From what I have seen on line, the misoprostol is added to help prevent stomach problems, so maybe I should ask my doctor about it next time!

Anyway, no horror stories here!  Good luck, and I hope you find it helps you.

hello and welcome to the board.

my mom has been on it for about 10 years for OA, and loves that drug to death. she was just given mobic to help aid the arthrotec, i guess its not working as well as it use to- and that seems to have done the trick. good luck with everything, i look forward to getting to know you better

Welcome DSurge.  Glad you found us.
