Hey guys, I don't know if any of you remember me but I used to post on the old boards as Jumpthatmoon. I haven't been able to access the site for months, did something happen? Anyway, I've really missed posting, especially as things haven't been too good recently. I'm still at university and doing well work wise, managing day to day life (just!) but the RA is hitting me from all angles. Cyclosporin was increased to 250mg in Jan and Pred has been weaned slowly down from 30mg, a dose which usually helps but i saw little difference this time even at 30mg. It feels like the meds are barely keeping this thing manageable - knees, ankles and hips are painful and i'm getting strange sensations in my leg muscles, plus a lot of weakness. There's also signs that the meds are damaging my kidneys, oh and i need surgery on a fistula over the next few months too. I only have a week left of term before i can go home and be looked after for a while. Seeing my RD in two weeks and surviving on painkillers until then! Pretty exhausted but i'll get there. Just not sure what the next move will be med wise as I'm pretty sure something needs to change. Hope to catch up with some of my ol' buddies: Janis, Kim, Speedy to name a few, hope you guys are all doing well. Take care all, Moonie x
Hi, I remember you. Janis (islandwoman) and kimmy hang out at www.rheumorweb.com I think Speedy might be at www.rheumamisfits.com Good to see you again, though sorry to hear the RA is bad. Good luck with the end of term! zzoi
Sorry you are having a rough time. I do remember your postings. Biologics have helped in the states. Hope it will evidentually get over there. So in there mean time, get plenty of rest. Kieye Thanx for the replies guys. I have wondered if the fistula is causing much of my problems, especially as the pred seems to be treating that, rather than the RA (everytime i reduce, the fistula feels worse). I guess the sooner i get that sorted the better, my RD hasn't actually said there could be a link though. I hope the appointment with my RD brings me some progress, I'm really struggling at the moment, despite being on quite high dosage of both of these drugs. I can't help wondering if it's time for a change, but that in itself is worrying as this combination has always been the most successful for me. I may be struggling now, but i'd hate to go back to some of the times i've been much worse. Thanks also for the links, i've posted on rheumorweb too as i saw many familiar names there. Take care all, Moonie x |
