RD Visit | Arthritis Information

I promised I would post after my rheumy visit which was yesterday.  The first thing is that I received apologies from both the nurse and doctor as he fired the receptionist as she was erasing messages.  I got the impression they had serious repercussions over that one, including me trying to avoid a trip to ER for help and no one returned the call.

The good news is that once again my SED went normal and again went back to sero-negative.  I seem to hover back and forth.

The bad news is my ALT shot suddenly to 104.  We will repeat the test in two weeks.  If it is liver damage, then I guess its the MXT.  But I was on lortab, which I told the ER doctor I could not tolerate codeine-based drugs, so I am crossing my fingers.

All the special tests for osteoporosis are beyond my understanding as there are so many asterisks and reference notes, I cannot tell what the results were.  Same with the specialized urine test.  He said they were all fine, so it makes me suspect he was still just poed over me going on antibiotic therapy and missing the osteoporosis diagnosis, and its bad he also raised my MTX, which he dropped back down after the high ALT.

He was actually decent to me with his attitude, which is all I really want, some respect.  But, if he is ordering tests and changing dosages out of spite, that's very bad.  Cathy

Been wondering about ya, was going to PM ya today as I just noticed last night while trying to make my right shoulder feel better in the shower... for some reason I thought of ya.

Hummm... not sure how to respond to your visit. Sucks is all I can think of.

I do hope your liver is ok.

Much Hugs!

I just want to mention that Milk Thistle is a natural liver cleanser that I use with great results.  I inject 20mg of MTX per week and take a lot of Norco pain meds but my liver tests have come back very good.  Might be something to discuss with your Dr.

Take care

Congrats on the lower sed rate!  Glad to hear the doc is at least being civil, why is it so hard to find a good dr??????

One thing though, lortab does not have codeine in it, its hydrocodone and Tylenol.  The Tylenol can make live enzymes go up depending how much you took!
hi cathy, i'm glad your dr fired that receptionist...what a nerve that person must have to erase messages. and i'm glad that things went relatively well, i think that everyone deserves respect from not only their drs but others as well...good luck with things, keep us updated. Cathy, I'm glad you got some good news,  I hope the liver test turns around for ya.I can't believe the receptionist was deleting messages. I guess she was
annoyed people were phoning with medical complaints while she was trying
to do her job as medical receptionist. The nerve of people bringing their
medical problems to a doctors office! Why, I nevah!

Milk thistle is a good thing to add to you supplements, like Bonny said, and
also don't forget the lemon/olive oil drink is a liver flush (it's not just for
herxing anymore!)Just a little FYI about milk thistle...Milk thistle can produce allergic reactions, which tend to be more common among people who are allergic to plants in the same family (for example, ragweed, chrysanthemum, marigold, and daisy).

Hey Lynn!

Do you have any info on that?  That's very interesting, especially since a lot of us have allergies.

Pip

P.S.  Go Cathy, Go!

P.S.S.  GoGo - LOVED the 'it's not just for herxing anymore"  Warning - I'm going to pilfer that!

Thanks everyone.  I did milk thistle after I sobered up as I was worried about liver damage, but its been 17 years now, and this is the first time I have ever had any abnormal liver readings.  I picked up the milk thistle on the way home from the appointment, so I have that covered.  And I gagged down olive oil to do liver/gall bladder flushes, so I will get on the lemon/olive oil routine pronto.

Michele - thanks for the info on the Vicodin.  I plain vomit taking one percocette or darvon, so why when the pharmicist ask me if I had any allergies, and I said codeine, would he call back to the ER and talk to the doctor?  This isn't making any sense.

I appreciate the positive, loving comments.  I am a little blown away at reading the vile being spewed out over on some of the other threads, yikes.  Cathy
