Roof of Mouth Peeling | Arthritis Information

When I drink anything way too hot or eat anything way too hot and it burns the roof of my mouth. The skin on the roof of my mouth peels off. It never use to do that. I have noticed my skin is getting thinner, probably due to the prolonged prednisone usage. So maybe that is why the skin on the roof of my mouth is so senstive. It does not hurt. It just feels weird, that the roof of my mouth sheds

Does this happen to anyone else?

It could be the pred. I've never been on it like that though, and my roof peels too.

MAYBE IT'S ANOTHER JRA THING?!?!?? LMAO

Because pred makes you hungry like a third world child**, so when you eat you don't give a sh*t how hot or cold you food is, you just inhale it.

As for me well......I've always eaten that way......mwuahahahahahaha

**uh oh, that wasn't very PC of me!

Yeah... he put 16oz of water in the microwave for 10 mins. Everyone knows it only takes water to get coffe hot in 2 mins, but not good ole hubby... NOPE! He could not read the front of the microwave where it says coffee 2 mins. Nope.

But I digress.

I burn3ed my mouth while eating at a resturant. Mexican food... the enchilada was well... steaming hot and I was hungry and forgot the guy told me it was hot hehehehee... yeah... *sticks tounge out*I do not know, but it is hard for me to tell how hot stuff is and i burned my mouth on some hot soup on pred and vicodine one day that is for sure. I was hungry and stupid that day. But a burn should hurt, if you can feel it.Yes Joonie, have been on long term pred and happens to me all the time!  It's funny how we don't associate some things with our RA until someone else brings it up - thanks.  Janie. My doctor did a cotton swab mouth culture and it was HSV-1 for herpes simplex for mouth canker sores.  Peeling of the roof of the mouth is one of my symptoms.

Hummmm... JSNM. Sounds ewie! Mine only peels when I burn it with something hot.

Hey milly!! Where ya been? Was wondering about ya!

Janie - I am not totally sure pred does cause it but, I would think it is, since my skin all over is getting thinner.

I am glad to hear it doesn't hurt.  But my guess would be the hot did it.  Especially if it was in the microwave for 10 min.  yikes.
