Okay, infectious theory buffs, did see this? Kids with autism do better when they have a fever?
Parents have apparently reported this enough that somebody finally decided to study it. 100.4 counted as a fever, and they had parents track their children's symptoms. During the times of fever, the kids spoke and interacted more, etc. But it always ended after the fevers went away.
They conclude "Fever causes a change in how the brain sends messages between cells".
Maybe I conclude the kids get better when the fever knocks down whatever is causing the autism? I said maybe....
In other "Will They Ever Get It Right?" news, a spoonful of honey is now said to work better than any pediatric cough medicine (not for kids under age one; when will they study Vick's on the bottom of your feet, which also works better than any cough medicine?) AND apparently lots of vaccines have been rendered completely ineffective because they don't store them properly. Here is an article:

about it in the 1996 BC Health Guide (the government sends us easy to
use medical guides to cut down on unneccessary doctor visits).
I have recently learned about honey's amazing antimicrobial properties too, so it helps beat back infections.
I bet it's easier to get a kid to swallow a mouthful of honey than a mouthful of medicine!
Suzanne - I will never forget a moment about 10 years ago when my ex, the chiropractor (who sat like a lump in front of the tv for 22 years until I finally divorced him) jumped up and just went on a rant on and on and on because of a television commercial that was shown frequently during that time frame - it was this beautiful line of drugs for your kids to take when they get sick - all OTC - and the underlying message was, you are a bad parent if you don't buy these and use them. He was just raving about how kids are suppose to get colds and flus and unless they start running huge fevers, let them run their course so their AI system builds up tolerance. I will never forget that one moment of him actually having something to say.
I chop everything down to pollution, additives, preservatives and household cleaners.
If you go back, take a % number etc. compared to amoutn of people alive at the time, kids with Autism, ADD etc. all started coming out by the truck loads after chemicals really hit the market.
My doctors think my parents smoking triggered a sleeping DNA since i have had this my whole life and my parents both smoked when i was conceived and they smoked like chimney's while i grew up. I had bronchial problems, kidney infections, strep throat etc. my entire child hood every single year and the same joint pains, just less of hurt.
I moved out on my own and slowly got better after i stopped smoking too. I had a good 7 years then this hit really really hard.
I can't be around lots of different chemicals cuz i have reactions from not being able to breath with lung swelling to body swelling in my joints etc.
I do way bettr now that i try to go to around oriental foods, new buildings, gas tanks, pinesol cleaner and (this will be spelling wrong most likely) worstechire sauce. Party mix this year was almost a killer in the wrong way.
My house, my brand new manufactured home is believed to have triggered the major boom of my sickness. Formaldyhide.
So, i have a personal blame towards chemicals.
Oh, they did find out that parkensins (i know that's spelled wrong, not my best subject in school) but it is officially and finally known as caused by chemicals.
We have to fix this world, i don't want my teen sick and she already has a horrible reaction that is like a cold when she is around molds and cigs (grandma smokes).
Suzanne - I'm knocking back honey and cider vinegar in warm water to ward off arthritis as I get the odd warning twinge (Margaret Hills Clinic diet) but Becky hates it, trying to drink both ingredients makes her throw up. However, we eat a lot of pasta and guess what now goes into mum's homemade dressing for pasta?
I've heard about the Vicks remedy (rubbing Vicks into soles of feet over night helps with coughs and colds)- I'll try that tonight as we are both wiped out with colds etc. Anyone else had good results with it?
On the autism front, many in the UK (except the docs of course) blame the Measles, Mumps and Rubella jab for their children developing autism, with effects seen almost overnight. I also think the MMR is responsible for Becky's JIA - anyone any views on that? I don't know if the US or OZ have the MMR triple jab? My other 2 older children had it though with no problems.

ADD has actually been recognised for centuries---it just had different names. My favourite is "Morbid Deficit of Moral Control". Although I would be not at all surprised if the prevalence of shemicals in our environment exacerbates it. Dee -Suzanne, you could be right re the JIA being present in Becky before the MMR. I try hard not to jump on any bandwagon like the anti-MMR one - won't do any good anyway. I just can't remember any symptoms of any kind before she had the jab. And she had a reaction to the MMR which caused her neck and cheeks to swell which i know a lot of kids also had who had the MMR then went on to develop JIA. (Saw this on the ARC website I think). So, yes, could have been there and MMR triggered it to noticeable proportions (VERY noticeable!)
Spoke to her consultant today, she may get away with oral MXT as she's only 20kg, they'll decide on Monday and let me know 'sometime'. Did/do you get the 'we'll get back to you eventually' feeling from Phillip's drs? I feel my temper flaring a little....

Phillip? You must be getting the moms confused LOL? But the answer is yes, they seem to work at their own pace. I get pressure to agree to something at an office visit and ask a question. I'll be told they will find out and let me know. Sometimes the next office vists rolls around with the same question unanswered. But no answer really gives you an answer, doesn't it?
Asked about Plaquenil the last time. October. Called about another matter, a rash, the week before Thanksgiving. Left my cell number, because I don't sit by the phone at home all day. No call that day. No call the next day. The next day, we went away for the holiday, and when we returned, there was a message at home on the answering machine to call them. Hello? I left my cell to be reached by. Do you really want to reach me????
Returned the call, but never got the dr., only his nurse, and we only talked about the rash, not the Plaq. I suppose it will come up again when we go back in Jan. Unless he calls New Year's Eve LOL.

Well just my opinion and i am tired so i should probably post this later. Enviorment sure that has alot to do with things as far as asthma and autism. Chemicals and the like. But back to basic genetics. Strep throat factor. Allergies. I was born with these conditions. My grandfather and his father both had reumatic fever and heart attacks at early ages. Other AI diseases MS and thyriod diseases are in my family tree. I remember being five and was packed to go to the hospital to get my tonsils out. Then it fell threw, the doctor decided i was to young. Well i still have my tonsils whats left of them. They partally rotted out. When my son got his tonsils out I stopped getting strep throat, he did also. I am one of seven children the only one to ever get strep out of seven children. I was born with out the ability to fight off strep. But i passed this trate on to my children. You still can get strep with out tonsils but it is harder to get without tonsils. I had a freind that got strep without tonsils and she had also toxic shock sydrom once. Well she got legondiers disease an isolated case and lived threw that. She quit getting sick after that, her theory was all of the antibiotics they gave her intravinously. But you only get legondiers disease once i believe , not that it is at all common to get it, and you build up an immunity maybe the biuld up of that immunity gave her some immunity to strep, who knows. Well these two teeth that have had me sick with infection now stem back to childhood. The dentist then ignored them said they would fall out. Then my new teeth grew in with the decay. Got these root canals when i was eleven or twelve. Watch your kids. Do what you can for them. Remember as they get a little older some days they may not tell you when they come down with strep if it is an often problem. They will want to play till they drop.Anyway if i can bring myself to go here. My oldest son is bipolar this runs in my family big time. He was dx with ADHD as a child. Ritilin brought out alot of autistic times for him as a child as i am sure being bipolar did not help. I know there is a rise in autism do to the inviorment. Also one should note that the criteria for dx has changed over the years. But yes it is a serious problem. As there is a rise in childhood asthma as well. As far as shots go my oldest son did not seem to have any problems with them he is bipolar and has asthma. My youngest son got terribly sick everytime he got a shot and he is a very well adjusted happy religious young man , and does not have asthma ,so go figure. And this kid would vomit, swell, run high fevers. He even got measles from his mmr. DPT hit him hard every time. When he was four he got the menigitis shot in one leg DPT in the other. He was so sick I had to carry him to the bathroom he could not walk, he asked me if he would ever be able to walk again. I remember schedualing his shot on friday hoping i could be back to work monday. I took him to his freinds while i went to get his birthday presant. I got there to pick him up and one look at him i held my shirt out so he wouldn't throw up on this lady's carpet. Well i was not back to work on Monday I was still carring him to the bathroom on Tuesday. But he is just one sweet , funny , smart young man. So far he seems to have lived threw it.
