The saga continues........ | Arthritis Information

As you all know, I had to go off Imuran earlier this week due to allergic reactions.  I have been fighting off some kind of cold/flu/whatever for several days.

Well, woke up this morning in more pain than usual with a splitting headache and throat bright red, swollen and hurting like the dickens.  Took my temp and it is 100 degrees.  I never run a temp, it is usually around 96.5 to 97, so 100 is high for me.

Naturally, this is the day for my Enbrel shot.  So I called the RDs office and was told not to take my shot until I was over this.  My long awaited trip to Mexico is scheduled for the 14th.

Nothing is going to make me stop this trip.  If I am not better, I will just up the pred and make it through.  Sitting on the beach someplace warm for a week, even if I feel lousy has to be better than lying in bed freezing.

Been a great week.....hahahaha :-)

Oh, yes: I can empathize about great weeks  I hope you're able to kick whatever this is in time for your trip. I agree, warm sun is much better than a freezing bed! Yes, I'll take sick on a beach over sick in the freezing cold of winter anyday.  Still, not sick on a beach would be waaaaay better.  Hope it sorks that way.  Didn't your doc give you an antibiotic?  It seems in order with the throat and the temp.

Thanks for for the good wishes Happ, Miles and Linccn.  Glad you all agree with my plan.

Linccn, no I didn't get an antibiotic.  As I mentioned my RD is out of the country,  his father is very sick and they don't know when he will be returning.  I just spoke w/his nurse.

I figure if I am not better by Monday I will call my PCP and get an appt.  Think I would rather deal with him than my RD's partner since I have only met him once.

Sorry you have been having a couple of "great weeks" yourself Happ.  Not the best time of year for any of us I'm afraid.

Thanks again for taking the time to send out encouragement.

Especially, as I have been feeling strange about posting too much close to the heart stuff since my bad reaction.  I usually don't open up quite so much and it makes me feel a bit exposed.

You guys are such a help.

crispy39423.5263194444Awwwww, crispy. I hope you feel better soon. Seeing your PCP is a good plan, as is laying on a beach somewhere. I predict you will be tip-top by the time you get on that plane.

I really hope you feel better.

I love Mexico.  What part do you go to?

I think the beach and sun will have a pain-killing, calming effect!

Have a great time!

My favorite spot is Puerto Vallarta.  But since I have never been to the Carribean side before we are going to Playa Del Carmen.  It is about 45 minutes from Cancun.  We have a time share with the Grand Mayan Resorts.  There are 8 of them in Mexico.  Wonderful beautiful places with many things to see and relax in on property if you don't feel well enough to go out.  But I am really hoping to see some Mayan ruins at the very least.

Thanks for asking Dotty and thanks for your good wishes Gimpy.

Feel better soon, crispy! You still have a week to get to feeling better before your trip. Rest, rest, rest!  I hope you're feeling better by the time you have to leave, but you're 100% right.  You'll feel better no matter what in a nice warm, relaxing spot.  Enjoy a rest now and enjoy a warm rest later!Crispy, go and have a good time, get lots of rest and sun and play.  I love Mexico, but have only done the West coast.  I am envious you are going to the East side.  I want a full report when you get back, please.  :)  Cathy

Crispy, I really hope that you are feeling much better for your trip. I agree that seeing your PCP is a good plan. You'd much rather feel good in Mexico than not!

You still have a week, so hopefully the bug will be gone by then. Hope you are well and have a wonderful time! I was in Cancun a couple of years ago. The water was beautiful and the sun feels so good on arthritic bones.

Thinking extra good thoughts for you!

Hugs, Nini

Hoping you feel much better for your trip!!
