Article: Rosehips effective RA remedy | Arthritis Information

As some people here know, I've lately been very interested in using foods to replace drugs and supplements when possible. Here is an interesting article talking about studies done in Denmark on rosehips. They were found to be surprisingly efficient in helping with pain and inflammation caused by RA.

An excerpt:

This summer, a breakthrough trial from the same team with the Charité University Medical Centre in Berlin showed rosehip benefited patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The six-month study was comparatively small, with 74 patients in two groups, one taking the supplement and one a placebo. But the first group found that, on average, joint pain and discomfort fell by 40 per cent.

The only unfortunate thing of this news is I don't really like rosehip. It grows everywhere around here... but....bleh....
Hi! Thanks for posting this! Another "natural" anti-inflammatory, glycerrhiza glabra, licorice, mixed half and half with dried rosehips makes a palatable, in not very exciting, tea.

The remedy has been used folklorically and anecdotically as an antispasmodic as well as an anti-inflammatory. It is said to be especially effective in interstitial cystitis.

I apologize for not have links to appropriate abstracts (I am certain they are available...just not to me today). One of the studies of glycerrhiza glabra, IIRC, was from NCBI and was, again depending on a not-so-sharp memory one of a series of studies dealing with hydoalcoholic plant extracts.

I will have to increase my intake of rosehip tea. I like it plain, but Flash adds a teaspoon of local, unprocessed honey.

Thanks again.

Just read the 'YOU' article about Litozin. I contacted Victoria Health pharmacists who said it is also suitable for children on NSAIDs for JIA as it doesn't boost the immune system (which echinacea does - cheers again Wayney for the warning!) but fights the inflammation symptoms of arthritis.  And these are in capsule or powder form

There is so much more I need to learn about the natural methods.  Thanks for the posts, you guys.\
