Best way to take pain meds? | Arthritis Information

I have always been told that if you take pain meds. like motrin, tylenol etc. on a regular basis that after awhile they won't work and then you have to increase the dose to get the same affect. Is that true.I know that with headaches that is how it is.Also when AMber had surgery they had to give her stronger pain meds. due to the fact she was already on perkacet and that she would need a drug that strong to help her pain since she had been increasing her pain meds. due to her pain.(Does that makes sense?

I just know that I took a ton of motrin yesterday, not sure if it is helping cause pain is real bad one second then not so bad the next.So far the only thing that helped my pain was the pred. And it has been 3 days since I took my last pill.(6 day pack)

It has been 3 months now since this all started. When I read about how long some of you have been going through this it just amazes me how you haven't just snapped from the pain.Do we just build up a tolerance to the pain after so long?I guess we have no choice.

Sheila-  when you are on any kind of pain medicine for a long period of time your body gets used to it and you end up having to take more and more.  For me regular vicodin doesnt do anything for me anymore i have to take norco or someother drug because my tolerance for it is stronger.  Does that make sense??? hope amber is doing better!

That does make sense.I just hate it though.I can't keep increasing these pain meds but I don't want to hurt.

Amber is doing good, thanks for asking.Dr. removed all endometriosis.I pray that it doesn't come back.I have it, it is very painful.I have been taking her left over pain meds, I know you aren't suppose to do that.I didn't take any yesterday, trying to wean off the hard stuff
