For thise with allergic reactions to medicine. Have you ever had pioson ivy shots? Or have you ever had allergy shots? The type where they make a syrem of all the things that you are allergic to and try to desencities you. I have had both. They no longer give pioson ivy shots, I do not know why? And after the allergy shots my medicine allergies went haywire. Just wonder if it was a coincidence or not. It could be my allergies were just going haywire at this time anyway as that is why i got the allergy shots to begin with.

I did, for a very short time, have allergy shots -- but my medicine allergies were firmly in place before that time.

First, let me say I don't have true allergies to medicine, but I have intolerances and some medicines that aren't supposed to cause seizures actually do in me.

I've been taking allergy shots for a couple of years now.  I'm allergic to lots of stuff (soy, pollens, weeds, mold, dust mite, cat, dog, feathers, etc.)

I haven't noticed an increase in my intolerance to any medicines since I started the shots.

kweenb39425.2847453704I have a lot of allergies and have had shots on and off for years.  There are some allergies that the shots will not do anything for.  I am on several allergy and asthma meds.  Since I have had my sinuses operated on I have felt so much better.  Besides a deviated septum, I had lots and lots of polyps.  The polyps would swell when an allergy attack would hit.  Then I couldn't breathe right, then a sinus infection would start and then an asthma attack.  The surgery wasn't pleasant but very effective.

The only med I am allergic to is iodine.  That is probably because I am allergic to shellfish.  That is the connection.

Just a note:  most people are not truly allergic to medicine, but have a sensitivity to it.  There is a difference.
I had anaphalactic shock with Plaquenil and hives in the sun with Sulfazalazine.

No, I have not had the shots.  The allergist told me mine were so bad the shots wouldn't touch them.  But that was 10 years ago (before RA) and maybe now there are new things.  Maybe I should try again.  I do take Singulair and Flonase.  These make the day to day allergies much easier to live w/and I have not had an allergy induced asthma attack in 4 years.

I've never had allergy shots, but I am allergic to several meds.

I've been told these are true allergies. I get very severe rashes with all.

These rashes are so bad that, in one, my entire back looked and felt like alligator skin..thick, hardened, with wildly itchy rash. Others were on different parts of my body, but no less serious. The meds I'm allergic to are:

                      Sulfa, Trazadone, Percodan, Fosomax

My RD said I'm allergic to methotrexate. This one causes a bad, dry cough, tightness in chest, feel like I can't breathe deep enough.

I never had shots but I am allergic to many meds and things.

Sulfa, mtx, pollen, flowers, grass, trees, animal fur, or lotions or shampoo with flowers in it. I break out in huge hives. Sometimes my eyes swell shut. I take benedryl. I take it before my enbrel shot and for a couples days after, same as I did when I was on humira. I get hives and itch all over. It's awful. Our Christmas tree is real and I have the kids decorate it because if I touch it, I break out in major itchy hives. It makes me sneeze for a few days then it's not so bad.

Was on allegra D, then took clariton D, benedryl is cheaper, so I stick with that. Makes me real sleepy in the day and wired at night, Go figure, I am a freak of medical science. LOL
