OT: End of a great relationship | Arthritis Information

I am so sorry, I have been nursing our German Shepherd that we suspected had cancer.  It has been a rough three days and the last two have been with not much sleep.  With the Vet's encouragement, our almost twelve year old Shepherd was put to sleep.  Three out of the four of us were there, and he went very quickly and quietly.  He will be missed by all(being that we got him when my youngest was four).

This is why I have not been attentive with the board this weekend. It has been hard, and now I have a sorish throat and my infusion is supposed to be on Wed.

I hope all are ok, and I do send my love.

Oh Shelly, how awful for you and your family. My heart goes out to you all. Take it easy and maybe your sore throat will be better tomorrow.

Shelly, My heart goes out to you and your family.  It's always so difficult to make that decision.  Take care.  LindyOh Shelly...I am so very sorry for your loss. When our pets have been with us that long it seems no different then losing a child. We had to put our 12 yr old Retriever (Beau) down 4 yrs ago. He had congested heart failure. My oldest son was off at college and I had to let him tell him bye over the phone.

My heart truly goes out to you and your family. I will keep you in my prayers.
Always a awful decision. Glad you and the kids were together for it. They are part of our families. The grief for our furry friends is as strong as it would be for any other family member. I am so sorry.

Oh my gosh Shelly!! I just cired a little for your puppy. You poor thing! It's SO hard to lose our furry friends. He lived a long time though, and you can rest assured that you did the right thing. He's not hurting now, and he got to go peacefully and with the ones that he loved.

I have been through the same thing and I know how heartbreaking it is. Just cherish your memories of him as I'm sure you will. There will come a time when you can tell stories about times with him and share a laugh together.

Hugs to you and your family,

Nini

Shelly I am so sorry

I am sending bunches of hugs to you and your family.

So sorry about your dog Shelley.  Lots of hugs for you and your family!!

Thank you so much, each and everyone of you with the kind words of support.

It was a sad morning in the house, and even sadder for our daughter, who missed saying goodbye.  She opted not to come to the Vets last night and am reminded how important it is to say those last words of I love you.

Thank you so much.

ohh Shelly, I am sooo sorry for your loss.  We had to put down our golden retriever some time ago (i was preggers AND getting married, very emotional time), but I still miss her.  Big hugs to you hun.  Glad you are getting your infusion tomorrow though

Pip

Take care,

Kelly

My heartfelt sympathies go to you and your family, I remember having to put Gretchen down, she was my family dog when I was in high school, german shepard too.  They are the best, remember the happy days and that now  your four legged friend is looking down on you and is still with you and always will be.  meme

You are in my thoughts.

Thank you so much for the kind thought.  I am worried about our Cavalier Spaniel...we got her when Kodi was young, and she was molded by him,...and spoiled by us.  She is not eating right now, but I did manage to entice her with some wet food.  She does keep scoping things out though.  She is my ultimate lap dog and could not bare to lose them both.

Dotti that would be pure agony to lose both of your babies.  They are our babies.

Hubby just told me that Kodi was the only dog in his whole life that he had long enough to put down.  He is struggling too.  I am watching the kids, and they are ok at this point.

Awww You guys love extra on your spaniel!!! She'll settle down eventually, it's so confusing when one pet goes and the other remains. They don't always understand what happened, or where their buddy went.

Cavalier Spaniel.... a King Charles Cavalier?

Yes, she is a King Charles Cavalier...imported from England!  She is pretty snobby too.  She has the whole I am a royal dog act down to a science, and she knows who she can pull it on too.

She is the best dog/cat anyone could ever have.  She doesn't shed, but she has to be combed because of her feathers(she hates it, which is something she learned from Kodi).  She also will alert me when I am tired and need to go lay down.  It is cute and everyone in the family knows the routine.

I know she will settle down...she is seven, and pretty healthy...although she is a treat monger, so she is a little roundish.  My daughter says she FAT!  Imagine the nerve!!!

Oh man, Shelly - if I ever own a dog it WILL be a King Charles!! I LOVE THEM!!! They're just the sweetest little lap dogs EVER! My girlfriend in high school had two, and I was always threatening to steal them.

And she's not fat! She's just.....fluffy!

I would love to have another one.  They are very expensive here, but they are worth every penny!  They would do well with the kitties as long as you got a baby.  Heck they're the same size!

Well, I better get to bed.  My sore throat is not getting any better sitting up!
