Humira question | Arthritis Information

Okay, before I started on the Humira injections I read a lot of posts and got the general idea that when it was injected it was less than a wonderful experience.  So when I took the first shot I was so surprised that it didn't hurt at all.  Neither did the next two (all in my tummy).  Then the 4th one came along (again in the stomach) and it hurt a little but nothing too excrutiating.  Then number 5 was in the thigh and I thought I was going to come unglued.  It hurt like H***!

Thanks,

Andrea

I take Enbrel.   I can inject my stomach easy, no pain.    But injecting my thigh is really painful which is why I dont do it now.   I inject on alternate sides of my stomach.

Thanks, I thought maybe that was going to be a factor.  While my stomach doesn't hurt physically...mentally I have a difficult time doing it.  Guess I will be getting over that, huh?

Humira usually hurts or burns for some time after.

This is not from experience but from what i have read.

I use to inject into the numb part of my belly. and then I could feel the burn after it spreaded out above the numb area. Sometimes hubby did not hit a numb area, so it burned like HELL. I never injected humira anywhere else other than my belly for fear of the pain and burn.

But when he would give it to me in an area that was not so numb, the burn would last for about 5 mins and then that area of my stomach would burn only if pressure was applied to it.

My answer in short, is yes, you're normal.
