Hi everyone, I havent been on here lately as i have been doing so well from the enbrel. Busy with christmas coming up and looking after grandkids. Well i thought i was doing fantastic with the enbrel but my rheumy said i need a bit more help( a few inflamed joints still ) so she has added plaquenil to my long list. I started it yesterday and have noticed my vision is a bit blurry and i feel a bit strange. Has anyone else had side effects from plaquenil.Hi allycat. I had those symptoms and also itchiness to my legs, dizziness
and stomach cramps. All those symptoms went away in about a week and
now it really agrees with me. good luck and give it a chance to level out in
your system. Thanks Lorster, I will give it a chance. I was just worried with feeling so good from the enbrel, i didnt want to muck things up.Hi allycat, I had some of the same problems as you did when I first started it.  It did go away except I get stomach cramps if i don't each when I take it. Yeah, ally. I had the blurred vision for a little while when I started Plaquenil. It should settle down in a couple of weeks. If it get worse or doesn't settle within a few weeks then I would definitely mention to your doctor.  Welcome back Allycat! I'm so glad to hear the Enbrel is working really well for you. That's great! I take the plaquenil along with my mtx and experience some of those side effects as well, but I didn't know if it was from the plaquenil or the mtx.  Plaq can cause vision problems.  If you find this stays, you should see an eye doctor and tell your rhummy.

I was made to see an eye doctor before I began Plaq. Vision problems are a rare side effect of the drug and amount to, as it was explained to me, something akin to ulcers in the eye.

I'd let a doctor know right away just to be safe. If it is that particular problem, it goes away when the drug is discontinued.

Ditto to all the above.  The side effects lasted about a week for me and then went away.

Hi Allycat

I've had all the above side effects.  I'm taking a probiotic and that seems to help with the GI problems. I've been on plaq for just over 6 weeks and the beneficial effects are now kicking in. My hands are looking better and I've got more energy so plaq's definitely a med that's worth trying.

I had very bad results with this.  However, I seem to react different from everyone else here!!!! I tried it for about 2 months and was so depressed from the stuff--and never got up to full strength.  Also, my brother was totally blind when he died and my eyesite without correction is poor.  They are blue and very light sensitive and felt I could not risk ANY damage to my eyesite--just too much to pay.  I was depressed and could not sleep.  If I did sleep I had horrible nighmares about death and destruction.   I normally have a very positive attitude and I would almost burst out in tears.  It got worse--and then I stopped the junk.  Hope you do better.
