Today is Thursday!! My first Remicade infusion day!!! Woohooo!!

I admit... I am still kinda scared because it involves a needle and all, but man... I am sooo ready to not be so physically limited and to give up pain meds and go back to IBU!

What is IBU ?

Ibuprofen. It does ok for my pain. I asked the last time I saw the RD if I was able to take it still, since being on Imuran and she said sure.

So... I am taking for my muscle tension headaches from my right shoulder hurting and swelling.

Oh i can not take that anymore. But thanks i was scratching my head couldn't figure that one out.Yeah... it does not do much for my pain, but it does cut down on the swelling some, since it is considered an anti-inflammatory. Most of my pain is caused by swelling. Well i finally got a rash to it three years ago. And it always seems i was getting ganglion cyst woppers mind you every time i got one i was taking ibuprofen that is just me. So i just don't take it anymore. Have not gotten any ganglions scince i quit. So maybe right do not know exactly.I'm sure that your infusion will go well for you Joonie.  Why don't you ask for a topical anaesthetic when you get needles??  They're great!

Good luck - just think of the end result!!

Jeanne... because it is a mental problem more than the feeling of it. I just do not like the idea of a shiney, metal, forgein object peircing my skin. EWW!! But sometimes they do hurt, depends on who inserts the needle.

Hang in there kiddo!!  Think of the relief ahead!!

Good luck, God Bless!!  We'll be looking forward to hearing how it goes!!
Kiwilass239429.0574652778Kiwilass, I'm not sure how helpful those visualisations will be.

Good luck, Joonie. Probably once the needle is in it won't be so bad. And
you can look at this as a golden opportunity to start overcoming that needle
phobia of yours.

Soon you will feel better.Gimpy, I absolutely take your point and apologise.  Problem edited out.  Thank You for pointing that out to me.   Kiwilass, I actually thought it was kind of funny, and so would probably
Joonie, until the time for the needle came. No, no, you're right!!  It's all cool!!    Let us know how you do Joonie. You will be in my thoughts today.

Honey, you will be fine, and it will go very well.  They will monitor you temp and bp, but  you will speed through this.  Take a book or something.  The infusion will most likely be close to your hand, so hand crafts are out.  I usually just read.

Love ya, and this will be the best day!

Good luck Joonie.  I hope this medication turns out to be everything you want and need.  You've waited a long time and it's time for you to get some relief.  Let us know how it goes.  Joonie...I'm so excited for you!!  I can't wait for you to have a day where you just feel good.

Good Luck My Little JuneBug.

Hope you feel like dancing tomorrow

Joonie, I wish you the best, I would like to know how it went since we are waiting on my insurance company to approve me for Remicade.  It has been two weeks and I have not heard from my rhumy.  She said that once I was approved thay would setup a date for the infusions.

I hope this works for you.

WAY TO GO JOONIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so happy for you.  I can't wait to hear how it went.   Remicade worked so well for me and I am so hoping it does the same for you.

Hugs,

Crispy

I am scared to death of the whole infusion thing so far I have been lucky and sulfasalazine has worked for the past year or so but my RD has been trying to get me to start methotrexate  I have been fighting the switch but I have been having a hard time and my next appt. I am going to cave I think.  I am very nervouse but I think it is still a pill?  I am very needle phobic and the thought of going and getting a infusion is terrifying I do hope it brings you relief and if it comes to that I am sure I will be excited as well.  You are in my prayers and I hope this works for you.

Methotrexate comes in pill and injection forms.  The injection is a single syringe you can inject yourself, and not an infusion, like Remicade, that has to be done by a healthcare professional.

The methotrexate pills tend to make some people nauseous, and they prefer the injections.  (Both made me nauseous for a few days, but the pills seemed to be worse).  I was one of those who did not respond well to mtx, so I traded it for enbrel two years ago and have done marvelously ever since!

I never imagined that I could actually give myself an injection...and the first time I injected enbrel I was in a cold sweat.  But when it was over, I realized it wasn't so bad.  Three days later when all my pain was gone....I decided that injection was a 'gift', and I've not had any apprehension about it since!

Joonie,

How did it go????????????????

Phats

Thanks for all the well wishes and replies.
