MRI done - doctor ruling out MS? | Arthritis Information

I still remain undiagnosed but have at least had my rheumatologist appointment moved up to the beginning of January (from March).  The MRI tech said the MRI was for my head and upper spine.  I thought ... what a waste of resources.  Then I saw the requisition - ruling out MS.   I think he's doing this because my limbs keep falling asleep so badly - and my left arm is losing strength.   So much incredible joint pain, hard to imagine I've got MS.  Has anyone else had this;  are symptoms similar to MS?

I had the numbness etc in the hands and one foot so they had to rule out MS.  It was 'just' RA.

Hugs,

Pip

I too had an MRI to rule out MS. I was having the numbness and tingling.
Turns out it was probably inflammation pressing on the nerves.I had my brain mri 3 years ago. Always good to know your brain is fine? Especially if the rest of you is not. Now here is the kicker 90 percent of people with ms show up on mri. God bless the other 10 percent.Yes I was tested for it and thank God it was negative, it was due to Arava, peripheral neuropathy, so I had to stop another RA med due to intolerance!!!!  Best of luck, Janie. MS is known as "the great masquerader". It can present with all sorts of weird, whacked-out symptoms.  A friend of mine was initially diagnosed with arthritis, then fibromyalgia, until they finally diagnosed MS a couple years later.   Yes, I also had two MRIs to rule out MS because the neuro didn't believe the first one.  Thank goodness the second neuro ordered a blood test (finally) or they'd still be insisting it's MS due to the numbness, tingling and limb weakness.  Jesse8839432.3421643519

There is a rare auto-immune disease that has those syptoms.  It is called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP for short). Most doctors miss this one.

Google CIDP and it list the problems associated with affliction.

Good Luck,

LuAnn:)
