Orencia side effects | Arthritis Information

Has anyone on Orencia had any side effects from it? I've been on it for now 6 months and it seems a few days after I get my infusions I either develop a UTI or Bronchitis. Has anyone else had this or anything else? I think others have and they take antibiotics when they get there infusion just bassed on there history. But i myself have never had this medicine.Hi Red, I had an anaphylactic reaction with the first infusion so I haven't been allowed any more yet.  The side effects I experienced were swollen inflamed gums, headaches, diarrheoa, and dizziness, these are all side effects that happened in trials.  I daresay that if I had continued, just like with all the other RA meds I have tried, that I would end up with sinusitis, or bronchitis etc, then they would stop the Dmard and give me antibiotics.  Hope this helps, do you find that the Orencia has helped your RA?  Regards Janie.

I went through Enbrel, Humira and Remicade with no luck. Actually the Remicade was okay but I had a severe allergic/no breathing sort of reaction to it on my 5th infusion. Anyways, my options were Rituxin or Orencia and I had concerns about being the "guinnea pig" for these new drugs. Then my RD suggested another option of going back and giving Humira or Enbrel another try. I decided to try Humira again and it turns out that it has worked better than anything else I have been on.

If you do have side effects that are unbearable giving an old med a second chance may be another option.

YES! My eyes are always an issue due to the RA causing inflammation.
After an Orencia infusion I am guaranteed to get an "itis" in my eye.
Either scleritis or keratitis. The opthamologist has given me drops to take
a few days before my infusions and for a few days after to try to prevent
this.

Taking Orencia since 08/06- Present. 15mg Methox Fosamax, & folic acid.
