What a pain in the.... ribs? | Arthritis Information

My ribs on my right side and my chest have been totally bothering me today to the point where I almost broke down in tears after a hot shower this morning. It's so frustrating. Today is my hubby's Monday so he's at work. Poor Baby Boy has been spending the majority of his time today chilling in his crib. I hate that it hurts to carry him because I love to "dance" around the living room with him. *sigh* I just hope this stuff goes away before Thursday as my Big Boy will be here with us for the Christmas break. I don't want to spend my time with him sitting on the couch or laying in bed.

I feel like pitching a fit! *stomps feet*

Thanks for letting me vent.

I hope everyone is having a superfantastic and extra comfortable day.

I hope you get over whatever it is soon, and you return to your SOOPAH-FAHN-TAHS-TEEK self Mel, I am so sorry you are feeling so bad.  It is very disappointing to not do what you have to do during the day.  I hope it gets better very soon!

Cost-a-what? I'm gonna google that.

You know, Katie, when I type superfantastic out I hear Ahnold in my head now!

I just hate feeling like crap cause it's like letting Arthur get the best of me. He needs a swift kick in the bohiney.

Thank you for the support.

Good call, Katie! That is totally me.

Well do you smile when you hear the Terminator? Cause I know I do!!!

It's inflamation(sp) of the ribs and sternum. It's an RA thingy! Of course, right? I mean you don't have to have RA to get it, but we get it way more often. It can feel soooooooooo horrible! But I bet if you feel like crap (RA wise) all over, that's what's hit your ribs too.

Yay! Sorry I couldn't tell you something with an easier fix. Wouldn't that be nice? Hehehe

Yeah, a fix that involves Christmas cookies and eggnog! Hope you feel better soon, Mel. Beautiful photo, Stephen as usual. Cordelia39432.7482638889

Breathing at this point is uncomfortable

I'm hopeful that tomorrow will be much better. If it goes the opposite, my hubby may be calling in because I'll definitely need to spend some quality time laying in bed.

I love this picture! Are those geese in the water? I really like how the water reflects the sky.

Costochondritis is an inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone or sternum. The condition causes localized chest pain that you can reproduce by pushing on the cartilage in the front of your ribcage. Costochondritis is a relatively harmless condition and usually goes away without treatment. The cause is usually unknown. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/costochondritis/article_em.ht m

Good call, Katie! That is totally me.

Been there, done that, got the hospital bill to prove it.

Thank you, everyone, for your concern, encouragement and input. You guys are the best!
Are those geese in the water?
Black Swans as we call them.

Jas, what kind of meds did you take to help with the pain? I've had two vicodin today which seemed to help for a while, but then the pain broke through. I have muscle relaxers, but I have to wait to take them until after Baby Boy is asleep for the night. Is there anything the docs suggested for you?

Thank you, everyone, for your concern, encouragement and input. You guys are the best!  Pred really helps a little. I was just on ultam and flexeril when i was screaming. You need more than that for sure. Get better soon. I have Tietze's syndrome. The swelling was really obvious where the
collarbones meet the sternum.   I ended up in PT for ultrasound to help
break up the swelling.

I also got cortizone shots there as well. If it gets really painful see the dr.
I got to the point that I couldn't turn in the car to back down the
driveway. I know how painful this can be so I hope you feel better soon.
