Been Busy | Arthritis Information

I have not forgot about ya'll.

Then Friday went and got my x-rays of my hips. And went shopping with MIL.

Then been resting up the rest of the weekend. I tried to visit the board, but just did not feel like reading or replying.

Then went back to RD today to see about my hip x-rays and she said she could not tell anything by my x-rays because they were too light. So I have to go for a bone scan the 20th.

She thinks I may have some kind of necrosis... which results in maybe me needing a hip replacement. But she is hoping it is the just early stages of it as I would not need replacement, but a small surgery to help it out. But she is really hoping for it just being caused by the swelling in my hip and being tendonitis.

I have been doing pretty good. I do not feel I need the prednisone anymore, was going to ask to be dropped back down to 5mg, but I figured I better stay on 10mg until I am done with all the infusions.

I can walk again. Not much swelling. I do not even swell that much when the pred wears off... I do not even know when the pred is wearing off like I did before.

So... I am doing well. Still got a lot of aches & pains and fibro acting up and my back hurting when I sit up too long and my left ankle hurting and getting stiff when I am on it too long, but the pain is more under control, and not taking pain meds. So... that is a good thing.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I sure hope the hip problem isn't out of control yet. It sounds like your doctor is being very careful and exploring every possibility. Please keep us posted.

Don't try to do too much. I know we are all tempted to do everything in sight when we feel better, but, you know what happens if you try to do it all at once,

Stay well!

Hugs, Nini

Hi Joone, great news! It's good to be busy. Keeps you out of trouble. LOL I hope you continue to do better but don't over do it too much!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Hey, Joonie, glad to hear you are doing well and have been out and about. The Remicade seems to have had a good effect for you and quickly.

Don't overdo it, gorgeous woman but you would enjoy being able to be out a bit doing stuff.

What do you mean by "Done with all the infusions".  I'm on Remicade indefinitely.  I thought that was the common dosage.  Are you onlt have a set amount of infusions??

Glad to hear you are out and about and doing fun activities!

My aunt had 2 hip replacements and she can nearly run now!

Hope everything turns out ok with the bone scan.

We have a doctor here who is trying hip resurfacing as an alternative to total hip replacement.  It is a relatively new procedure and it doesn't work for everyone.  Much testing is done before hand.  However, it is a quicker healing, less traumatic surgery.  Maybe if you do have to have something done they will come up with something like this for you.

Much good wishes sent your way,
Andrea

Thanks Andrea!

Groovy. I see you got my get well vibes. Glad things are falling into place for you. So happy for you. Merry x-mas!!Thanks! Merry Christmas too you too.joonie

Thanks, Anna!

yeah, it could be the pred tapper. That is another reason I am not so gun-ho about weening off the pred just yet, I want to enjoy feeling better, before I try to ween off the pred.

I hope it is just the weening off the pred that is making you feel that way. Feel better soon.

Do be very good about hand washing and avoiding the obviously sick .... I caught a horrible cold right after my 3rd infusion. I was still sick 8 weeks later for the 4th infusion but they let me have it anyway because my temperature was normal. I took me almost 4 months to completely shake off that cold.

It was worth it for me...the rotten morning 'wrechedness' was gone. I could walk to the bathroom with ankles that would actually bend so I didn't have to walk sideways.
