When it rains it poors | Arthritis Information

We think god is testing me, not quite sure.

I have BV (bacterial vaginosis) that won't go away.  I finally got accepted for Hemira assistance and was talking with the Hemira company about my BV.

They told me I "cannot" take any biologic when i have chronic reoccuring BV and to try other drugs.

Besides trying arava, i have nothing else that my body doesn't reject besides prednisone.

When it rains, it poors.

I have to call my rhummy who gave me a nasty call monday asking why i didn't start it yet (she just signed the papers, i hadn't got it yet).  Now i have to talk to her rude assistant Connie (nurse) and tell her Hemira said no to using it.

They get more and more rude when drugs don't work on me even though it's not my fault.  I hate calling them but can't drive 3hrs to the next rhummy.

Wow.  Just what you need.  RA and nasty health care "professionals".

I don't know anything about BV, but I hope you can get it cleared up fast so you can start the humira.

I'm sorry you're being treated so shabbily---it's totally inappropriate.

Have you tried douching with hydrogen peroxide to control the BV? I know it sounds kind of weird, and I would hesitate a bit before doing it myself, but I also know you'vre tried everything else. That time I had BV I came across this home remedy multiple times.

Here is a study from PubMed evaluating this treatments efficacy:

Utilisation of hydrogen peroxide in the treatment of recurrent bacterial vaginosis.

1st Obstetric and Gynecologic Clinic, Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics and Neonatology, Second University of Naples, Naples, Italy.

AIM: The authors have evaluated the real efficacy of using hydrogen peroxide for previously treated recurrent bacterial vaginosis that is resistant to other forms of treatment. METHODS: The study included 58 women aged between 18 and 42 years old. Vaginal irrigations with 30 ml of hydrogen peroxide (3%) were prescribed in the evening for a week. The follow-up was carried out 3 months after the end of treatment. RESULTS: The results clearly show that the use of hydrogen peroxide in vagina can eliminate the main symptoms of bacterial vaginosis, and in particular the malodorous leucoxanthorrhea in 89% of cases at 3 months after the end of treatment, a result that is comparable to that obtained using metronidazole or clindamycin as a vaginal cream. Moreover, hydrogen peroxide facilitates the restoration of normal vaginal bacterial flora (represented by H202-producing lactobacillus) in 100% of cases and normal acid pH (pH<4.5) in 98% of cases; it also fosters the disappearance of clue cells from vaginal smears and anaerobic pathogenic flora from vaginal secretions in 100% of cases. The amine test became negative in 97.8% of cases. All results underwent statistical analysis and were found to be statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Hydrogen peroxide represents a valid alternative to conventional treatments for recurrent bacterial vaginosis, and associates the absence of collateral effects with low costs, excellent tolerability and real therapeutic efficacy.

Gimpy-a-gogo39435.6514583333Have you tryed switching antibiotics? I doubt that god is testing you. He already knows you are a really strong person. I guess it is just time to really get rid of this bacterial vaginoses thing. I would do some more investigating as to what is causing it or why it won't go away. Sorry the lady is so rude. They are probably frustrated not with you but with the fact that they can not get you fixed up. Some people are just nasty. Try not to let them get to you. My receptionist is usually pretty nice. She said last week well it would been better if you called earlier. I said well in a perfect world i would have but i just woke up and realized i needed antibiotics. I said i have RA and sleep alot sometimes, especially if i am sick, sorry. She took care of me. I think they forget we are sick sometimes.Bubba, its always something.  If it isn't the disease, its the doctor.  If it isn't the doctor, it's the pharmacy.  If it's not the pharmacy, its the insurance.  All you can do is hold on and pray.  Good luck - Cathydear lord, that sounds like a domino effect like none other.  why don't you get rude right back and tell them they are supposed to be the health care 'professionals' not jerks who make it harder for you to get better!  ugh i hate condescending medical people...ekkk!  i hope you find something.  gimpy always digs up the good articles!
Bubba, do you take a lactobacillis supplement? I would think one of these
people on AP could give you a good brand to take. I think there was a post
on the best brand the other day, can't remember for the life of me what the
thread was called or who posted it. If you are on long term antibiotics, it
really is important to keep the body in good balance and keep the good flora
count up. Oh i just thought of something. Get a secound opinion on the bacterial vaganoses thing. I had at one time let a docs assistant do my paps. My gyno he is a funny old grump but he knows what he's doing. He ordered my labs that the other docs were giving me antibiotics for. He said they are giving you antibiotics for that? He said you are supposed to have some bacteria in your vagina. He said he liked to know how clean that docs assistant thought i was supposed to be down there. He said we ought to test her i bet shes got bacteria in her vagina also. Not saying this pertains to you, but thats how i got rid of my reoccurring bacterial vaginoses. And it has been tested by my new doc to as sometimes I am to lazy to go to the gyno and i take care of everything at one place. But i did not have any pain or symptoms and hey it is worth a shot to get a secound opinion when you are not getting any answers or relieve. But you maybe really sick and having alot of problems and this may not pertain to you.

I take one by nature's way called (probiotic) primadophilus optima and i am now trying to take it twice a day.  It helps with my stomach and bowels swelling, but so far isnt' working very well on my BV.

It does work ok when i use it inserted into the cervix.  I guess the direct contact makes it work better.  But if i stop doing it that way, the BV comes back.

I have to call the rhummy tomorrow, my husband said if the nurse gets rude again, he will start doing the phone calls for me.

Bubba -

Try to work up to a lot of probiotics.  Maybe mix and match.  It really will help long term.  My mom is on 3 caps a day and finally has some control of her IBS.

Since they keep putting you on antibiotics - have you thought about AP?

Pip

my doctor doesn't believe in AP and i can't find anyone close in Louisiana that does.  I tried looking about a year ago.
