new, news for my daughter | Arthritis Information

Hello everyone
I have not disappeared but we have had a busy and tough month.

my daughter has been doing "ok" the medicine that they put her on helped a lot ! enough to let her skate again ! What a  beautiful site that smile was when she could get back out and play the sport she so loves .
she has been to the Rheumy and they now feel that she does not have JRA but that instead she may have  undifferentiated juvenile spondyloarthropathy.

I know this is the RA site but I posted here originally so I thought I would touch base and find out if any one knows anything about this.
I am not sure if this is good news or bad news.
But her blood came back mostly negative except that her complement proteins are mildly decreased in her blood. The doctor says a number of things could cause this but they are going to recheck that in 3 weeks. it may even be lab error .
She has started to have pain in her elbows and knees but not as bad as her ankles were.
They also think that she has Osgood Schlaters in both knees which is not a big deal but could be causing some of the pain.
anyway we are getting ready to hunker down for a few weeks of R and R over the holidays and if she is not feeling a lot better after the new year then they are going to start her on sulfasalazine(any one been on this) in addition to the feldene
well thats my news ...

happy holidays! Everyone trueazuil739436.7551273148I am currently on sulfasalazine. It is used for a number of things, rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease/ulcerative colitis.

It works very well for me. At high doses you can feel like you have the flu with constant stomach upset. So be on the lookout for that.

If it does work well, there may be underlying digestive problems. It was what tipped me off to my own. Have a happy holiday!

This website might help:

sulfasalazine did absolutely nothing for me ... but i have AS, not RA. and i'm
only 17 ... i dont know how old your daughter is, so who knows! it may work
for her? oh and elbow pain is the worst. ow.

anyway, sulfasalazine felt like a big waste of time. i'm on enbrel now - try
that if the sulfasalazine doesn't work? Thanks everyone  for the advice
Like I said My daughter (age 14) they think she may now have undifferentiated juvenile spondyloarthropathy.when at first they thought it was JRA
and now.....a new pain... in both wrists .
sigh...
but all in all the big ankle pain has improved from really not being able to walk more than a few min to being able to play hockey again ..
it hurts but she wants to play so away she goes !!
I think we will probably start with the sulfasalazine after the first of the year .. keep your fingers crossed
happy holidays everyone
lets hope that those in pain on this board can experience a little pain free Christmas magic!
