Approved for Enbrel! | Arthritis Information

I can't believe my insurance company approved me for Enbrel!  I figured they would deny me and I would have to go through an appeal process.

My copay was only and since I signed up for the Quick Assist, they should pay that for the first year.  I'm a little nervous about going to the RD next Thursday to learn how to give myself the shot.  How painful are they?  Are they any worse than allergy shots?

I have such high hopes for this drug.  I'm so sick of flaring, popping pain pills, losing sleep, missing work, etc. etc.

Big congrats! I was on Enbrel and the shots were simple....to me. THat is only because I grew up  ( from 8years old to22) taking allergy shots every week, I Was used to it.

I took mine in my leg, switching legs each time. I kept a log of when and where the shot was. I think now Enbrel comes with preloaded syringes?????? SO that would be even simpler.

You will do fine with the injections. THere are not nearly as complicated or scary as you may think and  depending on the needle you get, not much more than a small pinch.Sometimes I couldn;t even feel the needle, only the meds.

Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

The shot's not too bad, but it burns a bit. Make sure you leave it out on the counter for the full 30 mins so it's not too bad. You can also ice wherever you are going to inject and that helps, too. The first couple of times I took it, I had a headache and got dizzy for a bit. I really don't get that any more. Good luck!

Hope you have a superfantastic and extra comfortable day.
