hey am jus abt 16 and i dont know if i have arthritis but i think i do cuz well i looked it up and i do have the symptoms............its 5 o clock in the morning right now and i cant sleep because of this agonising pain in my leg that feels like someone has lit my bone on fire, does a lack of zinc have anything to do with this? im told that my lack of vitamins in my body can cause my bones to break eventually from everyday strain. should i hear my bones touchin when i move, sometime i can hear cracking from my joints when i stay one place for too long. what am i to do? (i dont favor doctors, what kid does?) Hi soca, i cant tell you whether you have arthritis. only a doctor or rheumatologist can diagnose that. Nobody likes to be in so much pain and its the bodys way of saying something is wrong. This forum is for information and support, but please see a doctor so that you can find out for sure. You could try either an ice pack or a heat pack, warm shower etc for now to try to ease the pain. All the best Ally

Hi Soca, sorry you're in so much pain.

There are lots more people on this site with more experience than me to offer you words of wisdom - you'll have to wait for them to wake up though!!

Do please promise us you'll go and see a Dr and let us know what happens? Thinking of you...

Hi Soca, that is the best advice that the others have given you, don't be afraid, just get help, it may not be as serious as you think, I wish you all the best and hope you get some relief soon.  Hugs Jane.

Hi and welcome.

16 is a tough age regardless and if you are having this much pain and are this symptomatic, I would definately urge you to  tell one of your parents what you have just written here and see if they will make a Dr. appt. for you, then perhaps your Dr. can refer you to a rheumatologist.

I hope you get some relief soon, this is a very painful and painstaking disease.

Yeah, Soca, 16 is a tough age -- but the only one who can properly diagnose you is a qualified physician.  It must be noted that the pain in arthritis is generally in joints -- such as knees, ankles, toes -- and not generalized to the legs.  Oh, we do get our share of cramping and tendon/ligament issues, but hot, swollen joints is a usual (but not necessarily in all cases) indicator of this disease. There are a zillion things that can imitate arthritis.  That's why a doctor is important in diagnosis.

It is also imperative to get an early diagnosis and treatment if you DO have arthritis.  It can really help prevent future damage.
