Hi, Has anybody had any experiance with switching from humira to Remicade and Methotrexate? I have been on Humira for about 11 Months and for the most part it worked great until the cold weather came and I began to flare up.My doctor wants me to try Remicade infusions every 8 weeks along with Methtrexate pills.I am concerned with the possible side affects.Any one with similar situation out there?

Hi Mickey, I went from Enbrel (not working) to Remicade and MXT.  Remicade worked ok but I was still flaring.  I was on 600mg. every 5 weeks and one week I'd flare and the next week I'd feel great.  Decided to go backwards and try Humira and MXT and it started to work after the first dose.  It's far from perfect but has been better than any of the other meds.  I'm reluctant to try Orencia but will go that route if I'm forced to.  I have RA/PA/OA and sometimes all of them start acting up and it's hard to find meds to treat all 3 or to even know which one is flaring.  For now I'm happy with the Humira/MXT mix.  I'll try Remicade again.  Sometimes if you go back to a biologic that you had tried it will work better the second time around.  Take care and let us know how you're doing.  Lindy I went from Enbrel (stopped working after 2 years) to Remicade and MTX pills.  The interval between doses had to be decreased from 8 to 6 weeks, but in general it works really well for me so far!I went from Enbrel-Humira-Remicade-and now Orencia. This has been
over a period of close to 8 yrs.

I didn't really have any issues switching the meds. as far as side effects. I
did feel pretty rotten initially but that was because the orginal med had
stopped working and it takes a while for the new one to kick in. Usually
about 3months. Remicade worked great for about 2 years. Actually, it
was probably still helping when I wanted to stop it for a bit. My RA was
flaring and I was sure it was due to the Remicade not having an effect. In
reality-it was helping more than I realized. Now on Orencia and it seems
to be helping. Each person has a different sucess story with a different
med.

I did the two months of Humira and MTX, but did not get any relief.  I have done four infusions of Remicade, and I am at 700mg, and we are evaluating the time, because I am still flaring a lot. I just want some of the relief that everyone talks about, but none for me.

I have OA/PA..most likely lupus or RA.

Sorry to hear of the switch, but you will be ok.

Hi   After Enbrel quit working at 4 months I switched to Humira, which quit working in 4 months so I went to Remicade and MTX. Its been 2 years and its working well.. not pain free, but no more erosions.  I MUST take MTX  20 mg a week or else the  Remicade does nothing.

I also took MTX with Enbrel and Humira. for me its the addition of the MTX that makes the difference. I get my blood checked every 2 months. I am on Remicade every 5 weeks. It tooo forver to get spaced that far apart, but most people go to every 8 weeks pretty quickly.
