Does anyone else find that when you have A LOT of pain and take Ibuprofin it helps with the pain but leaves you with terrible stiffness instead? That's what happened to me today...it was HORRIBLE! hmm i cant be too much of help with this, if i take plain ibprofin it upsets my stomach since im mtx, and such  its an anitinflamitory so i thought it was soposed to help with that but could be wrong im not sure sorry

I take 800 mg of Ibuprofen went I ache and have pain.  Sometimes it takes the edge off; sometimes it doesn't.

It's hit and miss for me, sometimes it takes away the pain AND stiffness,
sometimes just the pain. My stiffness isn't too bad usually, so I don't think
much of it

I read somewhere (I read a lot...lol) that Ibuprofen actually retains water making you feel all bloated and swollen sometimes. So it could be from the IBU that you get stiff. These guys are right....hit and miss.  I used to take it alot but haven't taken it since I started MTX. It helped me soooo much even if it did make me stiff.  Jackie

Ibuprofen can retain fluid in your body, it retains sodium, which is why
people with uncontrolled high blood pressure should use it with caution. Took it for years and it helped with some of the pain.   Lower back - but now if I take it I have a hard time breathing so obviously I don't take it anymore. The mtx seems to do more for me and I don't know why but provigil seems to works better than anything for the burning pain and stiffness I so often have.My GP told me that if you are going to take ibuprofen to control the symptoms of the inflammation as well as the pain you should take it regularly three times a day so that it stays in your system.  I am too scared to do that though knowing what it can do to your stomach.I feel the same nikihh. I worry about the long term effects on my tummy, I'd
like to keep something in my body working I'm giving the
ibuprofen a break and taking Mobic at the moment. I can't take it, because of the other drugs I am on.  It used to totally help me though.  My RA was not as progressed when I was taking it though.
