Got my Arava & lactose intolerance | Arthritis Information

Called doc again yesterday morning, said they sent it in, had to do the run around but finally got it and started it yesterday, so far no breathing problems, I didn't think it was it the first time, but she is only giving me 10mg a day cuz she is afraid my body will reject this one too and stop my breathing.

But.... found out something else....

We all knew i had a lactose intolerance, but found out it is HUGE HUGE HUGE.

They want me to cut all dairy out completely and take oscal vitamin c/d.

That means i can't eat a chip, or bread, lunch meat etc. that was made with milk and i never realized how much stuff was made with milk.

So this will be fun.  They were concerned about celiac disease because the bread products made me so sick, but they believe it's all the dairy in it, so now i have to lower all dairy.

I had some bread products that didn't bother me which made them think otherwise.

So, add another symptom to my large list of problems.

I'm just glad arava is going ok so far without rejection.

GEEZ, Bubba, you are having a time. I hope the arava helps you out soon and you can get your diet figured out. Seems like alot to take in but once you get used to it, it will work out.

take care and have a happy, healthier 2008!

Thanks cindee.

I have been taking probiotics, i was told to keep taking it and to take some (can't remember brand name right now), but intolerance stuff if i consume any dairy at all.

We are happy though.  It will be easier to get rid of dairy in food, than gluten (cuz they thought celiac at first).  IT will be a lower number of foods to watch out for.

They think that with the bacterial vaginosis (chronic) having to do with lack of good bacteria being produced, that i am not getting the right about of lactose bacteria to digest it, so that's why i have these problems.

They wouldn't know any of this if i didn't start taking probiotics on my own last month.  Thank god for that helping, gave them something to look for.

Lets hope this works for you bubba.  Fingers crossed

I was reading more on intolerance and allergy and my symptoms fall more under allergy instead of intolerance.

I was going to ask for a referal to get a test done, but from what i ready, it is very rare that the test would even show a dairy allergy.

But, the odd symptoms of swelling etc. throughout the body comes iwth it as well as other symptoms like the rash and hives.

Last night my husband wanted waffle house for dinner.  Like an idiot, i sat there and thought that this was an ok meal.

I looked up copycat recipes for waffle house waffles (these are made just like theirs) and noticed that they have 3 kinds of dairy in them.

I swelled up like a balloon, can barely walk today, was in so much pain all night that i had 2 nightmares (always get them when in bad pain) and my stomach is just horribly messed up.

So, day 1, didn't go so well lol.
