I have been taking Alieve off and on Everyday for the last month. I can't seem to move to well with out it. I can't just take one capsule @ 220mg. In order for it to work I have to take two 220mg and my pain is subsided for the rest of the day. I know there has been some problems with Alieve and cardiovascular issues. How long is to long to be taking the pain reliever? Help??Aleve is over the counter Naprosyn, you are not supposed to take over 1,000mg in one day. You haven't exceeded the reccommended dosage on the bottle, but you should probably ask your dr. what he feels about needing this everyday for the past month.
You can pretty much take it as long as you need it, if you don't have any liver problems or any other health problems that would prevent it.
It is the same a Naproxen, an anti-inflammatory med. As per the directions, you can take up to 2 in an 8-12 hour period, but no more than 3 in a 24 hour period. Of course, your doctor can tell you if you can take more than that. By the way, it is okay to take 2 at a time. Just don't take any more for at least 8-12 hours, then only one more.
Hope this helped. By the way, I get the generic, Naproxen, for my husband at Costco. It's much cheaper than Aleve and works just as well. They have the same ingredients.
It's great that your pain is controlled by Aleve. I hope it continues to work for you.
Be well, Nini
Deidre, It looks like we posted at the same time
I did want to say that I agree with you about talking to her doctor. I think our doctors should be aware of all the meds we take, including over-the counter ones.
I also forgot to welcome your2smart. Welcome to our little group. There are some wonderful people here and together they have a tremendous amount of knowledge. We are always glad to have a new member and hope that we can be of some help.
Diedre, Hope you had a good Christmas! Happy New Year, I hope it is a healthy and peaceful one for you and your family!
You can actually go up to 1500mg per day for up to 6 months, so long as you're being monitored by your physician and are not experiencing severe adverse reactions.
