tendon pain? or what?? | Arthritis Information

I wonder if anyone can explain why I get a burning pain on my hands from the pinky finger right down the hand.  It looks so normal, but it "burns" in a straight line on both hands in the same place.  Esp my left (and I am a righty).

I see my rheum doc in 2 wks and I'll mention it.  Don't think it's anything serious but I bet it occurs at least a couple times a day.  Wierd huh?

Hi Molly Bee, I get that same burning feeling but I dont know if its tendons that cause it. For me it feels like a tight hot rubber band that just keeps getting tighter and tighter if i dont rest them. My rheumy appt isnt for a few months so let us know what you find out if you can. I was told I have carpal tunnell so that could be what is causing it.  I dont think any of our pains are weird to us. just others who dont have them. had that feeling for some time now, but dr. said could be carpal?arthritis, so what's new about that?  she could give me a shot of cordisone or have surgery.....I just do a lot of dishes lately to put them into hot water, and my fore finger on right hand LOCKS around tea/coffee cup handle.   Hope my middle finger doesn't lock up or I'll be in trouble...lol

if it's not one thing it's another.  and it's not noon yet here.

there goes my new year's resolution "no bitching"

rosecrichton39448.3332407407I've had tingling, numbness, burning and a feeling like bee stings in my ring and pinkie fingers. My RD says it is ulnar nerve compression at the elbow. Perhaps that is it?
A tendon tear (or a small tear) is an intense pain, usually followed immediately by swelling.  (At least by my experience)  The last time it happened, I was in the supermarket and I did the rest of my shopping with a bag of frozen peas wrapped around my hand.  (They make great emergency ice paks!)
To me it does sound like a nerve compression or tendon pain.  I have a little of both, which really stinks.  Mine always shows swelling though.  I think that is a part of the PA.

I like your descriptive phrase "feels like a tight hot rubber band"...that is exactly what it feels like.  Thanks...do you mind if use this description with my doc?  (lol)  Then I'll share with all of you what it is.

Thanks!

thanks!  I have very little elbow discomfort so am not sure if ulnar compression could explain this.  then again i know about "referred pain" and so it could.  will share what I learn!

thanks again.

thanks, all!  will definitely let you know what it is.  Is carpal tunnel a continuous discomfort or does it come and go?  my remi was due today but b/c of the holiday schedule, I don't get it for 2 more wks.  Hope I can last....happy and painless 2008....ok, happy is good, too.I know what you mean.  It was different than the pain from carpal tunnel.  I had a nerve conduction test and they diagnosed carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome.  I had a special plastic cast made and wore those at night.  Very uncomfortable.  The pain and tingling included half of my ring finger.  I had 2 ulnar nerve decompression surgeries six weeks apart.  They removed the small projection of bone in the medial aspect of my elbow.  This relieved the pressure on the ulnar nerve.  But I can't have my elbow touch or lean on anything or ZING!  Talk about NOT having a funny bone. anyway    spoke with my sister-in-law (83)   she had this symptom and had laser treatment four years ago,,,no more pain, will surely look into this for sure

Who knows what it is? We're full of inflammation abnd I would think that anything that is inflammed could give you burning pain, aching pain, whatever kind of pain. This is one of the most frustrating things about this disease to me, I wanna know wht's going on in there all the time!I have trouble with pinky and half of my ring finger that sounds just like yours. For me, it is ulnar nerve compression in my elbows causing it!
