Well I guess it's official all over the world...Happy New Year!

Hope everyone is doing great this first day of a new year, anyone make any new resolutions? Not me...I just break them.

Hopefully this year we all get to be as close to pain free as possible! That is my prayer for all of us here. God Bless you all!

Whats for New Years day dinner? I'm cooking a prime rib, garlic red skinned mashed potatoes, Italian green beans, crescent rolls, and pumpkin pie. I'm also going to try Pinny's special recipe for Yorkshire Pudding....we've never had it and I've heard it's a must with prime rib.

On a side note, and the reason I'm up so early...I have an earache

Have a great day everyone...hope you all are painfree!

Hopefully y'all have a wonderful day!

Hello mona, sorry you are in pain with an earache. Since i have been on enbrel i have been getting blocked sore itchy ears. But havent noticed any blitering. Have you seen a doctor as infections left untreated can be dangerous. especially ears as infections can cause permanent hearing loss. I found if I use a cotton bud dipped in peroxide helps as it kills any infection that might be there.

Good morning all!

Prime rib again mo?  It must have turned out pretty well on Christmas Eve then?  We're going down the street for a Rose Bowl party at the neighbors.   Not the same ones we blew off last night, a whole different set.

I didn't know anybody made special New Year's day dinner.  Isn't everyone sick of cooking special dinners?  I know I am.  Glad things are back to normal after the holidays.

Mo, blisters in your ears sound 100% terrible.  Hope you feel better later so that your whole day isn't messed up.

Oh, for those interested....SciFi channel is doing a Twilight Zone marathon.  I love that show.

Anybody see Jas lately?

Happy New Year to all. Moana make sure you let the oil in the tins get piping hot before you add the batter mixture

We have a homemade curry for dinner. Chicken tikka masala with basmati rice, naan bread, chutney, sambals and yougat relish. It smells lovely.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Ok, so it is official...Happy 2008!  I am excited to see what is on the horizon for this new year.  I am hoping that I can move beyond the regular pain and inflamation of 2007.  So far...not so good...but here's hoping.

Mona~so sorry about your ears.  I think I would get them looked at.  Ya never know what could be going on.  This disease is good for surprises.

Shannon~I would make the saurkraut for myself anyway!  I hope you are taking it easy.

Ally~good to see you.  If you put peroxide in your ears make sure you dilute it in water.  Straight peroxide will erode the good things in your skin.  This is what I have always used for stitches on my knee surgeries.  It works very slick!  Take care of yourself.

Pinnie~Take care of yourself.  I miss the homemade curry!  I also miss the naan bread!  Could you send some through the mail?

Link~I am watching the Rose Parade now!  I wish I were there with you.  I really want to see it in person.  Maybe before I die!

Today in the Randall home the menu will be fried chicken, rice or potatoes, real gravy, green beans, and some sort of fruit.  I don't know what will be for dessert...after the lemon merange pie incident...I will probably not concern myself, and make some cookies or something after MIL leaves.

I will try to work on Eleya's quilt today.

yea Shelly I think Im going to, that is if hubby can find it at the store...i am taking it easy though

Well Happy New Year's everyone, I also pray for a cure and pain free 2008 for all on the board.  Today in my Texas household garlic ham and of course Black Eyed Pea's and rolls.  Black eyed pease are a tradition the wife's tale is the more peas you eat on new year's day the more money you will have through out the year.

May 2008 be better than 2007 for everyone.  CathyMay your day be filled with joy, your life with love; may your heart's desire alway be in reach, and may life's thorns be small and always accompanied by a rose.

Slept in till 10 and I didn't even drink last night. We still have Yorkshire pudding left over from Christmas eve in the refer, if DH were home that would have never happened. There is nothing like pudding with prime rib, Mona, I hope your's turns out perfect.

One New Year's DH made a very special recipe he read about in the paper called Hoppin' Johnny, a southern dish to welcome in the New Year with smoked pig's somethin' and blackeyed peas. He cooked a huge batch for hours. When he dished it up with his usual fanfare about how your luck depended on how much you ate and our new family tradition, it tasted like DIRT. We laughted so hard, he threw the whole thing away.

Happy New Year everyone, I wish all of you the best in 2008.

Wow I feel like a loser, lol, I just ate pizza.  No tradition there, I was hungry and son was driving by a pizza place.  Hhhhhhhhmmmm.

Happy new year all

I always add cajun seasonings to my blackeyed pease and ham hocks.  They are more for the luck the garlic ham is for taste.....We host a big Hoppin' John open house every New Year's Day. My BF makes
it and it's delicious---every year people ask in advance if we're doing it this
year. It's a-cookin' now. I'm in charge of the Caesars.

NVrules, the black eyed peas are for good luck, the collard greens are for
the money. So if it's the money you want, better add those greens!

Happy New Year, AIers.Gimpy-a-gogo39448.5991782407well heck maybe that is what i have been doin wrong all these years.  I am off in search of some greens......

Mona, I'm sorry about your ears. My oldest daughter, 41, had many, many ear infections as a child. Also lost her hearing, and had to have adenoids removed, TWICE! Yes, they grew back! Had tubes in her ears...the whole lot. Anyway, to this day, doctors cringe when they look in her ears. She has so much scar tissue, they can't believe she can hear. She still gets ear infections if she's not very very careful about her ears. Be sure to get that checked, Mona! The blisters are something I've never even heard of!

Also Mona, Your Yorkshire pudding sounds divine! I haven't had it for at least 35 years. When I was young, my Mom used to make it with a standing rib roast. Is that the same as a prime rib? I've never made a prime rib. I'm not a big meat fan, especially meat that is served rare! But I sure do love yorkshire pudding!

We don't do anything special for New Year's Day, either. My neighbor invited us for dinner, but my Sweetie is watching football and we took down all the Christmas stuff. (Well, he took down most of it

Regarding the Rose Parade, my youngest daughter was in the rose parade in 1989. She was with the Poway High School Marching Band. She was a drummer. It was a terrific experience for her. That same year, she graduated, then the band went to Japan and played at the Tokyo Disneyland!(I think it was Tokyo

I wish for all of you, a Very Happy and Healthy New Year! May all your dreams come true!

Much love, Nini

I'm sorry, Lisa, I forgot to tell you that I hope you feel better very soon. It's really a shame to have to go into the wheelchair, isn't it? Hopefully, it will help to give your body a rest, and you'll be better soon.

I hate to admit this, but of all the things you mentioned cooking for dinner, the only one I recognized was curry

Have a good day. Hope you feel better!!

Much love, Nini
