Cold Feet & Hands | Arthritis Information

Ok since it has been starting to get cold. My hands, well fingers more like it, get really really cold. And are hard to warm up. My feet are the same way. But it takes longer for my feet to get warm than it is my hands. But my hands gets colder faster.

My fingers feel like icesicles!! My feet I cannot really tell they are cold until I touch them.

Anyone else get icesicle fingers?

As for my feet... I think they do go numb because I do not even know they are cold until I touch them or they touch another part of me

It has just started doing this back in November, but it gets worse the colder it gets outside or where ever I am that is cold. Last time they got cold while getting my 2nd infusion... they had the A/C on and a ceiling fan

I'd mention it to your doctor though if you're always cold.  I can see if the a/c is on..plus a fan

Is there anything that can be done for it, if it is raynauds?

My hands and feet are almost always cold, but the rest of me is mostly hot. My extremeties don't change colors though. I just always figured I had poor circulation.

I have Raynards also. My fingers will go numb with even the slightest tempature change. Happend in the summer too if I go from air condition to warm outside. My feet are the same way.

There is something they can do but they only resort to medication in pretty extreme cases. I told my doctor I'd prefer not to add another medication and he said I didn't have to unless it became too uncomfortable.

It can be very painful at times.

My feet are like ice cubes most of the time...that cannot be healthy huh?

Same here Lovie...my doctor said there were meds to help, but I didn't want to add another pill to the mix.

There are things u can do to prevent attacks. Keeping warm...stop smoking if you are a smoker...limit caffeine are some of them.

Isn't the medication used for high blood pressure or something other than Raynards? I can't remember now what they told me. My hands and feet always cold as well.  My Husband will not let me come near him without socks on my feet.  I will occasionally slip a cold hand on him though

that's a good idea i am going to try those as well.  Today is one of those days I have been freezing all day.  santa got me one of those mattress heating pads and I have been in and out of bed all day trying to get warm.   Now i have to go out and get my daughter from school so I will freeze again.

I take procardia for high BP, but it also helps with Raynauds and I have much less trouble with it now that I am on Procardia. Also, I got these gloves I love because they are truly comfortable and have no fingertips but cover all the joints and are breathable and flexible. I even wear them at work, although I do not type too well with them yet! Here is the link:

I hope this helps. Cutting caffeine and keeping your body warm if you can will also help.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Last night my hand that was outta the covers got really cold and was like a popiscle and then all of a sudden it got really warm. Like some one had released the blood to flow again. Then it stayed warm the rest of the night even being out from under the cover.
