I would appreciate to hear from those of you that are taking morphine for pain relief. I have been trying to stay on oxycodone as I have always hate how morphine makes me feel. The pain is no longer controlled by oxycodone.
I would just like to know your experience with long term use of morphine. It makes me feel like I am sea sick and so so tired. Does that change?
are you on regular morphine or the extended release morphine. My PCP gave me the ER morphine and it worked well for me. But i dont usually get that "high" feeling from pain meds thoughI do not get high either. But morphine does make me feel like crap. It also takes the little energy I have left between my fibro, RA, and psoriasis. I am still on oxycodone but I have not been able to sleep and am in pain most of the time.
Shannon - How long were you on the ER morphine? I am talking long term pain relief.
Right now my options are limited. My insurance ran out. I will not get Medicare until April or May
It did work for the pain w/only minimal breakthru meds.
I was on it for about a month or two...it worked really well and like crispy I didnt need very many break-through pain meds.Hi Roxy, I have taken morphine several times. At one time we did the MS contin, which is the continuous relief. It worked pretty well for a while. It has never made me foggy or any of that type of side effect.
Most recently, I took MSIR (instant relief) as my breakthru pain medicine. I took that for quite a while. My main pain med is Methadone. My pain specialist said that there have been studies showing that methadone is one of the better ones for women because of some of our hormones. Apparently it is more effective for women than for men.
The morphine got to where it wasn't helping at all, so my new pain specialist said we could try dilaudid for breakthru pain. It seems to be helping more that morphine, as long as I take it when the pain just starts to come back between methadone doses.
Hope this helps a little
Hope you feel better,
Hugs, Nini
