Blurred vision | Arthritis Information

When I wake up in the morning my vision is terribly blurred, can hardly see a thing.  Also, I often have a burning feeling in them throughout the day whether my vision is blurred or not.  Is that an RA thing?

Hi Linncn, I have very dry eyes from RA and experience the same symptoms that you have if I don't keep the OTC artificial tears in them.

Take care

Thanks Bonny. I would hasten to the opthamoliogist's  office for evaluation and diagnosis...eyesight is too precious, and to fragile, too guess  about.

Con brio, Happ

As if to prove how precious and how fragile eyesight is, my blurred vision prevented me from seeing that I had misspelled ophthalmologist... Happ39450.5167708333Your probably right Happ.  Haven't had my eyes tested in a long time, way overdue anyway.

I've had the same problems myself. An examination resulted in a "Dry Eye" dx. I was surprised to hear Dry Eye because my eyes seem to be "runny" alot; not dry.

OTC drops have helped a lot.

So it's something that can be treated and it will go away?

I have had Iritis and Uveitis several times since RA.  Always end up on a stint of steroid drops and they really help.  But after the sjorgrens ddiagnosis, I decided to have the plugs put in and have had no problems since.

Also, letting your eyes get dry can cause some other kinds of damage.  I ended up w/a tear in my Retina a year ago December.  Had to have emergency laser surgery to fix it.  Scared me to death and i haven't messed around with any eye problems since.

I see my RD on the 17th.  I was just going to wait and mention it to him then.  Think that's too long to wait?He will just send you to an Opthamologist. I would get a referral right away in case it takes time to get in.  If you don't need a referral just ask a friend for a good one and get in.  Frankly, I wouldn't wait.  Especially if your eyes get red.  Uveitis will make the dry eyes almost unbearable and if they get red (kind of like pink eye) you need to be treated. crispy39450.8102893519
Think that's too long to wait?
Yes, it is. I would suggest that anyone with blurred vision opt to err on the side of caution and make an appt. ASAP with an opthamologist. There is a great deal of truth in the old adage about better safe than sorry.

However, I also realize that opinions are like umbilici, everybody has at least one.

Happ, I like your version of one's opinion better than my FIL's.  His is a bit more, um, colorful.Hi Linnc. I _think_ I know the colourful one you mean. However, I have a very close friend who does not have a rectum, never did. However, he still has a great many opinions..and he does have a belly button. LOL!!!  BTW...I have a friend without a belly button.
LOL!!!  BTW...I have a friend without a belly button.

OMG! My mommy recently had these lenses put in her eyes to help them keep better track of her diabetes and to remove cataracts or which ever makes your vision foggy.

It freaks me out... every time I look at her when I am talking to her... I look at her eyes, one of the only people I actually look at their eyes when I am talking to them, and it just freaks me out. Her eyes twinkle. I mean you can see the lenses and the light reflect off of them, and one time I actually was watching tv in one of them thru her eye!

It kinda makes her feel bad when I freak out, but I try not to let it bother me, but it does. It just freaks me out.

Oh and when I see her eyes twinkling... I think to myself... "Twinkle, Twinkle Baby... Twinkle, Twinkle." It is from the movie Be Cool, Vince Vaughn's character said it.

Ok... we went from eyes -to- rectums -to- imbilical and now....

Back to eyes!!!

I have had the worst time with my eyes for the last two years.  I have sjorgen's which is often linked with RA.  Keratitis, scleritis, iritis...you name the itis-I have had it.  I now see the dr. once a month so we can keep tabs on everything.  Anybody with an autoimmune disease needs to be under the care of an opthomologist.

I battle uveitis and its very painful.  Using steroid drops does clear it up but it can take a month or more, this stint has been 6 weeks.  I also have the dry eye-its funny because when your eyes are dry, they try to compensate by producing tears but they are the wrong type of tears so your eyes just get runny! I get that but i am always never sure if it is the RA or sjorgrens or  the meds as i get it from both. Some times for me it is like a bit of an allergie symtom to meds. But i also had that when i was flaring really bad. I had more pressure with it when it was the RA. Like pressure or swelling behind my eye. One day as i was loosing swelling i rubbed my eye in the morning and it was like it made a niose like squish releasing the pressure. I can see pretty good now but i could not so well for a couple of months. And i have a cold and crusty eyes but no blurred vision.
