Rheumatoid Arthritis??? | Arthritis Information

I am not sure if I have Rheumatoid Arthritis or not. My fingers will occasionally swell up and become a little red and very painful for no apparent reason. My wrists will become painful and get a red circle. Sometime I get pains in my feet as well but it is harder to tell if there are red or not. I just went to a Rheumatologist yesterday but I didn't have anything to show him because my fingers had just cleared up, he didn't really say much one way or the other, but he did order some tests. This pain and swelling in the wrists, fingers and feet has been on and off for about 2 years. Any information, thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Hi Maday,

Welcome to the site. As you know your simptoms could be a lot of things. Lets all pray it is not RA. See what the bloodwork has to say and mayb start keeping a journal. Use the 1-10 scale for your pain and document each day. Also if it moves around write it down. There is a tem used here often called RA brain and if it starts you will know it. Basically things from your memory get a little "cloudy" or you have a hard time remembering small things. I think it has to do with the meds but I realy have no idea.

Try and read to educate yourself and ask questions as often as you want. Someone will have some answers for you.

Again welcome and keep us posted when you learn anything.

Jay

Hi Mayday and welcome!  I too hope that RA is not your problem but there is one called Sero-Negative RA which is what I have, meaning I have no RA factor in my blood work.  In order to show my Dr that I did have a problem I took pictures of my swelling to show him.  He then was convinced and I got started on the meds needed.

Now days my inflammatory markers tend to be high.  Take care and let us know.
