pvc’s (premature ventricular...) | Arthritis Information

A few months ago, I noticed my heart pauses every couple of minutes.  I was told I have pvc's or premature ventricular contractions.  Probably benign-- I still have a follow up with cardiologist to verify.  However, I see that mtx can cause irregular heartbeats and I wonder if it is causing them.  Has anyone experienced this?

Ive never seen palpitations as a side effect of methotrexate.  They however can be a sign of folate deficiency so you might try increasing your foolic acid dose and see if that helps.  They can also occur with too much caffeine or as a side effect of codeine and caffeine combined.  And of course they can have no known cause.  They can be irritating but not usually worrisome

Jodi. I don't think there is much benign about a PVC. It needs to be checked
out. Make sure you get this checked to make sure something serious is not
coming down the pike. Thanks for the advice... I have been to a cardiologist who ordered a series of tests including a holter- a heart monitor that I wore for 24 hrs.  He told me at the appt that unless something unexpected shows up, the diagnosis will be benign pvcs and nothing further is necessary.  I want to ask about the folic acid. I take 1600 mcg on my own because I read this forum. I also wonder if I should take coQ10 which is necessary for heart function.
