So has anyone ever done skate skiing? Particularly with a hip replacement? I LOVE rollerblading in the summer and have heard that it is so similar and am dying to try it but a little leary to try it with a hip replacement after having been banned from downhill skiiing:) I've heard of people doing it who have had resurfacing.I use to race mountain bikes as a pro.In the off season we would skate ski a lot. I don't know about doing it with a replaced hip. There will be crashes in the beginning while you learn and it's a super hard cardio event.
You use your upper body a lot and really drive and push through the hips. I'm no pro at it but If my hips were bad I don't know if it's the sport I would be doing much. Go watch some video of it online and check out the range of motion the go through.
