I know there is a thing called hpokalemia, i think thats it. So if teh hpokelima was the reason for the low glucose than potasium and all the vitamins should make me feel better. But if it is really a problem of ot's own then i do not know what to do as far as diet and all. Yes it would have been nice to have felt this awful while the doctor was in. I feel bad, could be the drop in pred. Could be the infection. But i was peeing alot am really tired and a little shaky. Maybe some breathing problems. If it gets any worse i will go to the hospital i am just so tired i do not want to go. I am going to try eating a meal with no sugar but potasium.

Hi Milly, Hypokalemia is low potassium. It's a problem that I have at times. In fact I take potassium pills every day. Part of the reason for my low potassium is that I am taking Lasix, a diruetic. I must take this every day, as my ankles and legs swell a lot when I don't take it. In fact, sometimes I have to double the Lasix. I'm doing that this week, actually, because even with the regular Lasix I take, my ankles were swelling quite badly again. When I double the Lasix I must  add extra potassium, too.

Even with all this, a few weeks ago, a regular blood test showed my potassium was quite low and my RD called and told me to start taking extra potassium and eat a banana every day

You mention that you were peeing a lot. Was there any particular reason for that, that you know of? Because that will take potassium out of your body faster than it's replaced, sometimes. You really need to talk to your doctor and get another blood test for potassium levels. Are you diabetic? If so that's another issue that needs to be addressed.

But just to recap: Hypokalemia is the name for LOW POTASSIUM. I believe low sugar (glucose) is called Hypoglycemia. Please call your doctor's office, though. The excessive urination, being very tired and shakey, could be either thing. I really think it should be checked and the doctor should give you instructions.

Let me know how you are doing, okay?

Hope you feel better very soon. Hugs, Nini

Well it was bad thursday and the it was in low but normal range two days ago. So i am just supposed to go back if i feel badly again. As they could not treat that day. Hypokaliema i think can cause low glucose, am i dieabetic? I do not know? All i know is i was doing the same things i did before the good blood test two days ago and it is not working in my opinion. They said if i feel that way again to let them know yes it is serious. To me this does feel like a sugar problem. If i am diabetic well this would not be so good. Anyway it is just they called me and told me to go to the hospital. It is a problem that is not figured out yet. As i had been up all night trying to eat a bunch of potasium and it worked and the glucose thing is still under investigation. It seems to be flopping around. Anyone know about glucose much. I know i need instructions. I will go to the hospital if it keeps up. I just want a nap first.Really i guess i had been exibiting symptoms of diabietes for a while. But it had been like the RA and not showing up on any test until recently. I am not healing well and can not fight infection and tired and dry and dizzy some times. Thats the stuff i said when they said i had fibro and not RA. I said well then i must diebetic and have ms also because i am sick. I know i told doc several months back i had every symtom of diabetes. And one day i typed in all my symtoms on some sight i do not remember and it said no such disease maybe deppression. I was like wanting to tell it they were as bad as the doctors.
