I was just thinking about my brother and his natural meds doc. Wow kids i am shaking wonder what thats about. Third day pred drop? Anyway brother was trying to talk me into natural meds doc and sent me a book on fibro years back. It was written by a doctor. Anyway this doc was getting vitamin shots and alot of really exsausting things he was doing. But it said take pain meds and muscle relaxer and anything and everything it takes for a good night sleep. Can not remember the name of the book. I guess they do not have a natural cure for fibro? My brother must not have read the book first as he never would have sent it to me if he had. Was just thinking about my brother today. Anyone ever heard of a natural cure for fibro? I have read of the stuff in cough medicine but that is still medicine?

Hi Milly,

I don't know anything about natural cures for fibro. I Googled it and came up with some books being sold on the subject, but I couldn't tell you if they're of any worth. I know that Lyrica is supposed to be a God-send for some people but I was just reading a site that shows patient reviews of various drugs and I was surprised at the number of negative comments about Lyrica.  I thought it was relatively benign compared to other drugs for RA/fibro/etc.  I was thinking of asking the RD for it, now I'm not sure, but maybe it's something your brother should also consider and research.  It might work well for him.

I do not know that i would want lyrica either i know many say it works wonders. But i just do not need anymore meds than i have to. Well i am going to investigate the glucose problem. I want a biologic for RA and see where this glucose thing is coming from. And maybe then i could handle meds. I am to dry everywhere and to tired for meds as a rule. So if i am diabetic maybe i do not have Sjorgrens maybe i am diabetic and can wake up if treated. Well if i am a diabetic at least treatment would have to make me feel better. Probably still have Sjorgrens. I am on Lyrica.  I have to take it at bedtime as it makes me so dizzy - I am afraid of a fall.  Directly after starting Lyrica I had a few days I could walk.  I was elated so I am still hoping for those results.  It gives me horrible horrible cotten mouth to the point I cannot swallow and there is white gunk on the corners of my mouth and tongue.  I don't even know if it is going to work but desperate measures - any hope.  My gp wants me to raise my dose but when I try, the side effects are unbearable.  Sometimes it is hard to know what is worse - the drugs we try or just give up, take pain pills and accept life is just existing in front of a television set.

Roxy, what dose are your on right now????? Im  on 150mgs a day and I seem to be doing well on it.

I think you're thinking about dextromethorphan, it's the DM part of OTC (and prescription) cough medications. Some docs say Dm work just as well as narcotics for cough suppresion. I'm not sure how it's supposed to work for fibro, only recall reading something about it. Hope that helps, WendyGlusliven? I think thats it. The stuff in Robitusin but i read it only works if you stay away from mints and other plants you can not use deoderant or tooth paste and shampoos only specially made wierd stuff. Sounded witch doctory and would leave a person smelly. I do not do strickt restriction treatments like that.Anyway it is medicine the only natural cure is you have to have natural toothpaste and shampoo but high dose glusliven. More than you would get from a dose of cough syrup. Said you go back in reverse and the mints and such would prevent it from working properly.I too was on Lyrica--I think it was starting to help but it made me gain weight and quickly!!! The last thing I wanted to happen---the extra weight would be awful with my arthritis, so I had to stop.
I found out later that weight gain is a very common side effect.
