A bit OT - Back from MN! | Arthritis Information

I just got back from a week in Minnesota, helping my sister after she had vertebrae fused in her neck.  Can't remember which ones now, but she says she wishes she had it done sooner.  She used less pain meds the week after surgery than she did the week before.  She ended up having a staph infection (not MSRA) at the surgery site in her hip where they took the donor bone, but even with that she said the pain after surgery was less than what she went through beforehand.  She was having massive migraines, numbness in her arm and hand, and generally was a total crabass (her words, not mine!).  She still has a neck brace on until the end of January, so she needs help with shopping, chores, etc. but she has no regrets.

Welcome Back! Been wondering where you went off to. I guess I missed the post about you going to MN to help your sister.

Glad she is doing good and having less pain, always a good thing.

Yeah, I shaved my pits last night... they were a little too hairy for my liking. Now my legs that is a different story.

Did you take your boys with you to your sister's house?  They must have missed you like crazy if you didn't.

Welcome back Jasmine [QUOTE=Linncn]

Jas!!  Glad you're back.  I missed ya!  Glad to hear you're doing so much better.  My sister has ongoing problems with her ankle too.  The result of a bad sprain when she was a girl.  She rolls it pretty good every now and then and I have never seen such a giant, ugly, bruise as she gets when she does that.

Yep - the three of us flew there and back.  The boys love flying, but the airport is a whole 'nother story!!!  O'Hare is hell on earth (though the TSA there is about the most laid-back I've seen), and the TSA in Minneapolis acted like they've never seen electronics before.  I swear the screener almost had a seizure when they xrayed our bags with all the power adapters, Nintendo controllers, memory cards, laptop, printer, etc.  It took us 40 minutes to get through security last night in Minneapolis, and THERE WAS NO LINE!  When we went through O'Hare the week before (at the peak of the Christmas travel season) with the exact same stuff, they just watched it go through and joked around with the boys.  We were in and out in 10 minutes (and they had a line!!!).  In Minnesota, my little one thought we were going to get arrested for having too much Nintendo stuff.  He was quite scared.Welcome back Jasmine. I'm so glad you are doing better on the plaq. I have
no problems with mine anymore either. I have even taken it on an empty
stomach a few times with no problems. Glad your sis is ok. It encourages
me hearing about her successful surgery as I'm going through some neck
problems right now and don't know what to do about it. Anyway, welcome
back......and sorry you have to work tomorrow

I know about the ankle/foot issue.  If I do not work tomorrow...I have to get my butt in.

Sorry about having to go back to work...it does stink!!!!

We missed you Jas! Glad to hear your sis's fusion went well. I'm so glad her recovery was easy for her. Those braces are literally a pain in the neck

I had fusion in my lumbar spine and the recovery was just about the worst pain I've ever had. Especially if I moved even a fraction of an inch the wrong way. I am used to having pain all the time, but that was hell. Once all the nerves settled down so I could move, it was a lot better.

Your poor little guy at the airport. I can just imagine him thinking they were going to cart his little self off to jail for an over-abundance of Nintendo stuff

I'm so glad that the Plaquenil is helping you!!! I tried it for 6 months with no improvement whatsoever. I'm glad others have been helped by it.

Hope you had a good New Year's.

Glad you're back!

Hugs, Nini
