OT - Car accident | Arthritis Information

I didn't post about this earlier because I was still so pissed!!!  I was rear-ended this morning on my way to work; the @sshat drove away when I called the police to make a report (that's standard procedure, at least in Illinois).  Unreal.  It took the police 2 hours to show up, because the town and the county couldn't decide who had jurisdiction over the intersection it happened at.  Luckily, the car is totally driveable (though the back end looks like hell!).

I called the insurance company to file the claim a couple hours ago, and they still haven't gotten me a claim number.  My doctor needs a claim number before I can see him for this (regular insurance won't pay for it if you are in a car accident and have car insurance).  So here I lay.  My neck hurts, my shoulders hurt, and I have a headache.  Grrrrr.  I took some naproxen and tramadol (haven't had to take either for a few weeks now!), and they haven't done much of anything.

I just can't believe anyone could be so cold and self-centered to do that!  At first, she got out of her SUV and told me "don't worry, I have full insurance coverage".  She got back in her SUV supposedly to get the insurance card, and instead she drove off.
OMG Jas!! Why didnt you go to the ER?????  Im sorry the lady drove off!!  And 2 hrs for the police to show up??? Unfortunatly that is IL for ya

LMFAO RABIES??? I'm so sorry hun. And despite it all, you still managed to make a funny!
Oh I could tell you stories about the local ER... last year a woman died of a heart attack in the waiting room while waiting to be seen for crushing chest pain and difficulty breathing.  I'd rather do surgery myself than take my chances there, and when you're carted off by ambulance they just take you to that hospital, unless you're bad enough to be life-flighted to a real hospital.
Do they have camera's in the intersection?  Can you get a copy of it?

Nope.
Even though this was a crappy day, it has caused me to pause and be thankful:

- that my children were not in the car when it happened
- that I was not seriously injured
- that the other driver was not seriously injured
- that I have insurance (even with a 00 deductible what hospital is that Jas?  Ive heard horror stories about alot of hospitals here in IL
what hospital is that Jas?  Ive heard horror stories about alot of hospitals here in IL
I'd rather not say, lest they decide to come after me.  I've got a complaint with them right now. Naw... most of my friends and family are on this side of the Cheddar Curtain.

Sorry to hear about your accident.  That is rude of the doctor to do that, he should have seen you right away and worried about the rest later like many do.

Did you get the license number?  With a description of the car, they should be able to find it due to damage to it, or if they repair it, they will use a body shop and still find them.  It just, unfortunately, will take a while.

I got rear ended once by a lady to apologised and blamed it on two brain surgeries.  She begged us not to report her, said she would pay cash.  I told my husband we had to report it because she shouldn't be driving.  I didn't go to the doctor, and have had back problems ever since.  So please please please get seen as quick as possible as you can get worse waiting.

Hi Kelly, just wanted to say I'm sorry that happened to you, it really s**ks!  I would be livid, how dare she drive away!  It's so unfair that you have to pay the deductible when you did nothing at all wrong. Your attitude in finding things to be grateful for is commendable.  Hope you have no serious physical damage but I agree with Bubbagump, better to see a doc ASAP. Could you go to one of those walk-in centers like Urgicare, just to be checked out?

Andrea

Kelly sorry to hear about the accident, hope you can see the dr soon I hope this makes you feel better xoxoxo  meme

Hahahaha!!! Sorry about the wreck, but so glad to hear your rear is in the clear!

I hope you feel better soon! You are so right, it could have been much more serious, and thank God your kids weren't in it.

Sorry about your rear collision Jas, glad your ok. Good to see you back too. My 'puter's been a PITA and no one knows why
