If you don't want to hear about bowel movements, don't read.

WE have determined that it's my mobic causing the troubles of paleness etc.  Currently i take it twice a day as it does inflammation help and pain killing.

Right now i had to stop the ultram because my paxil says i can't take it with it.

My mobic is mostly used as a pain killer that i do need all day, i tried not taking it and it was horrible.

My problem is that I need a pain killer and i am a recovered drug addict.  I am afraid of becoming addicted to pain killers i may have to take daily and wanted to know if anyone had years of personal experience iwth a pain killer that went well that i might ask my doctor about in the near future.

Thank you in advance.

Bubba - a friend in recovery, hurrah!  I am a recovering alcoholic with 17 years, and probably a prescription drug addict too, so I TOTALLY RELATE.  I had been playing around with the idea of posting and asking if other 12-steppers who are in here exercising their right of anonymity would like to meet via pm and discuss this very real fear of ours that our meds could trigger our addictive sides.  I have been very upfront with all my doctors about this, and my primary who prescribes my pain meds is so fantastic I cannot believe it.  She told me not to worry, she would not allow me to get out of control.  I almost cried.

I am not surprised the meds were causing the bowel problems.  I think just about any strong prescription med is going to muck up your bowels.  Glad you stuck with it and are getting some answers.  Try the milk thistle and the lemon/olive oil drink and see if it helps, if you haven't already.  I got my liver enzymes back to normal and I am now off MTX.  I feel better already.  Take care ~~ Cathy

Thanks for the response Cathy.

My doctor started me on ultram because it isn't supposed to not make you addicted in the same way as narcotics.  But now that im on paxil, i can't take it and i get panic attacks thinking of taking addictive types of pain killers.  It gets frustrating and hard to explain my concern when others have never been addicted to drugs or alcohol.

I will ask my doctor for as mild of a  pain killer as he can.  There are a couple i can't take due to hallucinations (probably spelled wrong), but I am sure there must be others.

I am going to call him tomorrow and see what he might be able to do.

Thanks again for the response.
